Adult US citizen of any flavor. They complete and submit an I-134 with all supporting documents just like you. That is all.

They do the I-134 and supporting financial documents per the I-134 instructions.

Correction to earlier answers: One need not be a US Citizen to serve as a sponsor. A Legal Permanent Resident can too.

I am not sure if this is where this goes. So forgive it I am wrong.

I will be doing DCF in Brazil. I have lived here with my wife since July 2008. So from Jan to the time I came here I made over 20K at my work before moving. I have been working here out of where we are living but not making a lot of money. I have my W-2 and a copy of where I filed my 2008 taxes. My questions is do I need a co-sponsor? I am really worried that I will need one. If so that is going to be a big problem for us. As we don't have one. I have some job offers when I get back to the US but nothing for sure as I don't know that date I will be back. I hope someone can answer this for me.

4/7/08 Meet for first time.

10/20/08 Married in Sao Paulo, Brazil

11/25/08 Applied for my permanent visa to say in Brazil

12/02/08 Picked up my Blue Work Book.

5/26/09 Go to Embassy in Sao Paulo to fill out the I-130 so my wife can immigrate to the US.

The sponsor needs to show current, ongoing income. If your income/job in Brazil will continue in the US then you will need to find a co-sponsor.

If you can qualify with assets then you won't need a co-sponsor.
