Swine flu....I'm soooo SICK of hearing about it. It's a flu, yes infants and elderly die from the flu all the time and guess what, 3rd world countries that have deaths from it, typically 3rd world countries have deaths from flus and other things we do not here in the US. GRRR....Okay, done b!tiching. But I do wish I had off work for it!

I think the reason why everyone keeps talking about it is because it is the same virus that killed 60-100 million people in 1918, and it is spreading fast enough to equate to the beginning of a pandemic, hence the level 5 alert from the world health organization. This strain isnt as virulent as the strain in 1918, therefore it isnt as deadly thank gd. If it WERE as virulent, we would all be screwed. Lets hope it doesnt mutate and get worse, its not impossible.

Good morning everyone. I backed into the garage and broke a board of the frame so we have to replace the wood today and paint. My husband told me that I need to take a driving class. So I guess that will be our project for the day.

I too am sick of hearing about the swine flu for pete's sake! I work for an infectious disease doctor and asked him if it's as serious as everyone says. He says absolutely not, that the media are sensationalizing it. He said as long as you keep your self well hydrated and are treated with anti-virals, then you will be fine.

If he says it's not bad then I believe it. Hopefully it will all pass soon!

Good morning ladies. Happy Sunday all. Woohoo for the weekend!!

Another overcast day here in Cairo, though it's bright so I suppose there is some sun coming through the clouds. And much warmer than yesterday. With some humidity as well. Gross! lol

I got the Rosetta Stone learning program for Arabic, has anyone else here used it? I'm a little nervous to try it, but hopefully it will be okay. And it's not like being in a class where I only have so long (as long as the class is) to learn.

Is the Rosetta in Egyptian Arabic? I'm using the Pimselur (sp?) right now.

^^ yup me too.. but I just got the beginning one, like an abridged version. I picked up quite a bit and retained it!

I started with my alphabets in Arabic the Egyptian version for pronunciation. S and S has a thread for those who are learning and sent me a some Arabic books to help while I'm in Egypt. Wouldn't it be something if I get to the day we can start the mena summer book club in Arabic?

Mornin Mena...

Weve been up since 7am cutting trim and putting it up in the living room. It is finally done in here!! Thank god. We have a communion party to go to, then sofyan, zaid, and myself will be going to costco and jewel to place catering orders for zaids 1st birthday bash next weekend. Were catering chicken tenders and shrimp trays and ordering a strawberry filled sesame street cake! Should be exciting!!

allergies are kickin' my ever lovin' fat azz.

I was fine last night for a few hours once I took a shower to get the pollen off from when I was outside for like two minutes and then closed all windows/doors and turned the a/c on even though it wasn't even hot outside. Then husband came home and opened up the porch door since he was smoking and in about twenty minutes I couldn't stop sneezing, my eyes were twice their size from being puffy and it felt like acid was dripping in the back of my throat.

Kind of feels like that's happening now but I just took a claritin and a sudafed, put my eye drops in and did a nasal spray. I hope it works 'cause I really really need to go out and do some errands!

I'm not sick of hearing the swine flu news because I need to be prepared just in case we get hit with it. Will it kill us? Well not me hubby and the kids but it will certainly be a big pain in the patootie because that means loss of work during a difficult financial time and loss of school for the kids. Also who the heck wants the flu? The flu sucks!!!!

It isn't very bad of a flu now but certainly could mutate into something more. I mean it already mutated itself by being able to be caught by humans.

Allergies are the big suck hp. Claritin works for my family though my older bro has to get allergy shots just to survive. His wife shares his allergy problem and they have some sort of fancy air purifier/humidifier in their house.

I'm doing Hindi Level 1 and it's amazing what I've picked up and retained. The only down side for me is that I don't have a native speaker with me - I call K and let him hear on speakerphone where I'm stuck. He's even amazed at how much I'm picking up in such a short time - I'm even learning more of the alphabet and syntax this way than with books/websites...
