Hello all,

I've been learning from you silently but finally decided to join in and contribute and learn.

I'm a recently naturalized US citizen: 23rd January, 2009 and I filed I-130 petition for him same day. It took 13 months to get my citizenship and during this time I've been seperated from my husband who is Zambia. I went to see him for 3 weeks with our one year old son(he missed the whole pregnancy and it was his first time to meet him in November 2008). We finally got married in Zambia on December 10th, 2008 and now we're on the I-130/K3 road. We've been waiting for 88 days now wtih no touches or end in sight. I'm wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me and has been waiting a while. It seems that most of the people that applied around the same time as me have been approved and of course I'm highly confused about the order of processing and how our case is falling behind when there have been no RFE's, touches or action on my case. I've called USCIS several times but I'm told that I should wait 6 months when all I want to understand is how someone that applied after me, can get approved in 20 days....Its a mystery.

Well, hope to hear from more of you soon and maybe, those whose cases are taking longer, we could console one another.

Unfortunately.... there is no order in which they approve their cases as each case might be different.USCIS has been working at lot faster then before so ur very lucky in a way.If u would have did this last year probably it would have taken longer than a yr to get approved.Dont worry about touches as many times case just gets approved with out any touches.Even if USCIS tells u to wait six months, keep calling and if u want take infopass appointment.I know some people got approve within 15,20 days but there are people like me to who waited 3 yrs for their approvals. So just keep checking,u should get it soon

Best of Luck

Thanks for the encouragement and I'm so sorry it took 3 years to be reunited with your loved one. It really is so frustrating. I understand that they receive so many applications and honestly am surprised that they haven't had consultants to evaluate the process and recommend more hiring, maybe the creation of an additional center for the midwest so that the two aren't snowed under with so many applications. And although the expedite criteria say that you can request for extreme financial distress, it is not clear what the means. Supporting two households should qualify, the amount of long distance with useless rates and bad internet connections in some parts of the world that using mediums like skype isn't possible. The financial burden and pressure on couples is enormous and considering that there is statistical evidence to show that finances is the number reason why couples get divorced here, you would think we would all qualify for expedite on our cases.......Has anyone ever qualified for this on VJ? I've looked through hundreds of the discussions and am yet to come across anyone that successfully managed to do this.

Yeah I completely understand this process is really frustrating....But unfortunately we can't do anything besides waiting.Yeah they did hire around 1500 employess after they got tons of application before the fee hike in 2007.But they have just eliminated that back log a couple of months ago and it clearly shows as they are approving cases a lot faster now.But now NVC is getting hit with millions of approval every day because of its efficient buddy USCIS.They are slowly their process down. So,it one thing or another.

Yeah i m not sure about expedite criteria myself.I called and they did put a expedite request as my case as taking too long but they denied it :( for some reason.I didnt care about it too much as I was approved the same week.

Best of Luck for ur approval
