We have been officially married for a couple of years. We are finally completing the I-130 to start the immigration process. I am assuming she can still use her visitor VISA to continue visiting the US when she wants (I hope there will be no problems with this). I know I can continue visiting Thailand.

We have a couple of questionsabout completing the G3225a which I could not find an answer...

OTHER NAMES:

My Thai wife has used 2 different spellings of her first name thoughout her life (using english charaters). Her name with Thai charcters has always stated the same. She started using one spelling while she was in college. Later she found she spelled it wrong so she started using another when she got her Thai Passport. The only official document she knows about with the old spelling of her name is her college records. Everything else has the most recent spelling. It is a minor difference, a "ch" instead of a "sh". I am curious if anyone else has had the same situation. I am not sure if it could cause problems to write the old spelling under "Other Names" on the G325a form. My only worry is the govenment will request documents to support the 2 different names as a name change? It was not an official name change so there are no documents. If there is a problem, I am hoping a simple statement from us or explination is all they need.

PARENT BIRTHDATE:

The G325a asks for parents birthdates (if known). My wife knows her father's birthdate but her father does not have any documents to show it is correct. Does anyone know if we put the birthdate, will anyone ask for a document to support it? He has a document showing the year he was born. Is it better to leave it blank or put just the year?

I am also curious what will happen if my wife is not able to move to the United States after our case is approved. Will this prevent us from applying for citizenship in the future? I know we would probably have to start the process again from the beginning.

thanks to all... Everyone has been a big help with a lot of information...

if in ur place i would ask my self these Questions to solve that out

1: is the name ur wife use in her passport is the same as marriage contract and the same in the birth certificate ?

if yes ..then use that name tht mentioned in the THREE documents ..cz these are the most important when it come to immigration and travelling (birth -marriage -passport)

if the Marriage and passport are identical name ..but birth is different ..then change the birth to the correct name like pass and Marrigae certificate (easier and more reliable ) then u r done wz such an issue

as of her dad Birth :

DONT leave any empty fields in the G-325A or any other forms ..u will be issued RFE (request for further evidence ) and tht ill take ur case to the bottom ...so please be advised not to do that ...

she know the year ..doesnt he have a passport ? identity card ? sure he is ...and there u can find the birth ...please ask the wife to investigate more

Good Luck

sorrry ..i forgot to answer abt the citizenship:

Citizenship require that your wife must have a residency at the states for 3 years and up

even if she immigrated and wanted to get back to THi ...under a conditional residency (wht u get when she enters the states before the 2nd marriage anniv ) so she can stay out of the states for so long ...otherwise she will lose her residency ....

im pretty sure about the citizenship ...but 80% sure abt losing residency ..
