Am at 32 weeks and my husband just added us to his insurance policy last month. He approached the woman handling the account and asked about adding me and our daughter after we got married in Jan 2009...he could have done it then except we were not in the U.S. yet (we only arrived here Oct 2009), and it seemed silly to add us when we could not avail of the benefits anyway. He approached the insurance company again in Oct 2009 but was told to wait for open enrollment (Aug 2010). :(

When I had my daughter, it was via C-section...what do you guys think are my chances of the insurance company covering the cost...will they treat this as a pre-existing condition? Since we (our daughter and I) were not on the policy when I first started seeing the OB for prenatal exams, we have been self-paying for normal delivery (the thought of going through with that just terrifies me, and I really wish I could have a C-section instead)...any suggestions on what we can do?

Some insurance company considered pregnancy as pre-existing condition, when I was 18 weeks pregnant my husband trying to add me in his insurance as supplemental for me because I had my own insurance from my job covered with maternity but its limited, but they won't allow him because I'm already pregnant, so how much is the cost of the C-section without insurance?

At Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, it's $2,000+ for normal delivery and $3,000+ for C-section.

I can have the exact cost for you guys when we come home from our weekend with the in-laws.

Haaaay...na-depress tuloy ako. :(

I delivered via C-section last December. With insurance, we paid a total of about $6000 ++ for both myself and the baby. Without insurance, the median cost of Normal Newborn care is $4-5T, and C-section without complications is $22-23T ++. My husband added me and my older child to his insurance a few months after we were married, even if we were not in the US yet so that everything was covered when I got pregnant and insurance extended to my baby.

The numbers above do not include doctors' fees (OB, anesthesiologist, pedia, pathologist --- for baby's and mommy's labs).

Hallow to everybody

Tagal ko na di nakadalaw at sakong sakto nmn ang tanong ko kasi about insurance ang itatanong ko :D When I gave birth $5,000 plus and normal delivery plus another $5,000 plus ang bill ni Zac PERO lahat yun ay binayaran ng Medicaid. Bale ang gastos lang namin ay yung mga pre-natal and labs ko which cost us $5,000 plus din PERO naka discount kami :D So, $2,100 na lang binayaran namin dun.

Mejo personal pala itong tanong ko. Ok lang kung reply kayo or not :) We are looking for insurance kasi and baka magself-pay kami.

Kaya stop over kami palagi. Kaya feeling ko saka na lang kami uwi ng Pinas kapag nakakaintindi na cya ng word na "NO!" hehe. hay! Kamiss ang Pinas
