Was your application "touched" right before it was approved?

Just wondering, because mine arrived at VSC on 03/01/06, was touched on 03/04/06 (3 days later) and has not been touched since. That is why I wonder if it has been misplaced or lost.

A "touch" simply means someone at the USCIS looked at your case on that day. There are some whose cases were approved even without touches whereas some do experiences some touches before the approval. I don't think, your case is lost or misplaced. I hope you get the approval soon.

newhampshire,

It's waiting its turn. And its turn is a ways off. Look at the VSC processing dates on the USCIS web site.

Mine wasn't touched right before approval.

fortune: Go here and create an account. Then you can check your case online and register for email updates. (Not that you'll get any except for important things like approval of your petition, or maybe a request for additional info.) You'll know you've been "touched" when the date changes in the "Last Updated" column.

Our case was touched a few weeks after it was submitted, then was not touched again.. It was just approved a few months later

Our touch turned out to mean they had mailed my husband's welcome letter! They touched it on the 22nd and then on the 24th, they told us they had mailed it on the 22nd...

So do touches mean anything at all? If one application can be approved with NO touches and another has lots of touches but is not approved? It seems that it's about half and half, half the people here getting touched right before their approval, and half not getting touched at all. Is the service center supposed to document each time they handle/update your case? If not, why the "update" column on the e-mail status? It seems that nothing is done with any regularity, rhyme, or reason. Sorry to sound like a party pooper, but I am so frustrated by the lack of ....

newhampshire,

'Touches' are the invention of the VJ community, they mean that the online status has been updated. Nothing more because, as you've noted, something of no consequence may generate an update while something of major consequence may not generate an update.
