My wife and I stayed at the City State Hotel in Manila for her medical and interview. It is clean and the rooms are running 1550 pesos for the standard (30 USD). It is located walking distance from St Lukes as well as the Embassy. There are several resteraunts close by and also Robinson's Mall is a short walk from the hotel as well. I don't have the number handy but it is easy to find on google search. Best of luck and as far as attractions to see, try the Fish Aquarium and also there are a couple amusement park type attractions close by. Watch the cab drivers and let your wife be the one to negotiate prices because they will try to charge extra to foreigners. Make sure you get a quote of price before getting into the cab, best to use the metered ones than try to work a deal with a driver. Avoid the Airport taxi service since they are the highest rates in the city.

There are many hotels that fit that price Range .

I just dont' understand why you or your fiance would want to pay so much for a Hotel.

If you paying more that 30 dollars per night then your getting ripped off. Numerous hotels in Manila by USEM and SLEC that have very nice American Size and style rooms with air con / hot & cold Water and .

I stayed at Euro Tel last time in Manila, it was across from a Robinson Mall and only like 1200 or 1500 peso per night, it was very nice.

I can suggest City Garden Hotel. We stayed in the one in Makati but they also have one in Manila. I think its P1300 per person. But they are always fully booked so you have to reserve in advance like 3 weeks or so before.

Meve is in Sorriente {sp?} right now, and she said it's very nice and would recommend it.

soriento is the most accessible hotel near st lukes. u may just have to eat at robinsons though because soriento only provides rooms.. but if u intend to fall in line at slec at 4am, then this is your best bet.

btw, here's is soriento's number: (02)5239480

Hi Easygoingcouple,

When I had my medical i stayed at Cherry Blossom hotel, the first room i stayed was so noisy and i asked them i need to transfer but i wasnt able to until the next day. I literally don't have sleep when i went to saint luke. The room i transferred was super nice ( way nicer than the first one). This hotel is super close to Robinsons mall. The closest hotel from saint luke that I saw was Hotel Soriente.

Take your nanay to Ocean Park. Very near from both hotels. The entrance fee was 450 pesos.

Goodluck for your medical.

BTW, bisaya pud ko.

I will say go to Miramar Hotel

We've been there for twice with my husband. It's nice place and room. Free breakfast meal. It is located just in front of the USEM. After going her medical/interview you can visit Rizal Park which is walking distance.

Goodluck!!

I stayed at Best Western Hotel La Corona Hotel. It is a nice hotel with nice amenities and great service. They serve complimentary buffet breakfast. It is just a walking distance of SLMS and embassy as well as to Robinsons shopping mall. It's also a stone's throw to Ermita catholic church.

Their price is fairly reasonable. Try to search in google how much is their rate now.

Surely they wouldn't try to charge Americans the "Long Nose" or "Kano" prices

It happened to us last year. I was with my husband and :wow: they were trying to charge us P700 just to go at our hotel. It only costs fifty pesos. That's too much!
