Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

True. All of us were new once, but not all of us started giving out bad advice (consistently). I mean, in an automotive forum, bad advice usually means your car still won't work, and maybe you waste some time and money. Here, bad advice (on the level this guy is giving it out, as I understand) could result in being banned from entering the USA.

Being new, and spewing damaging advice are 2 different things.

Maybe someday (and I'm not saying it needs to happen soon, because the board works fine) but maybe the next software upgrade to this forum application will allow for others to rank contributors, so at least the other noobs don't think that because someone has posted enough to be a "senior member" (or whatever) that they actually know what they're talking about.

Ok, sorry to bust in, newb question. ;) Can't someone who's obviously an ####, and posting bad (and possibly illegal) advice, be banned from the forum?

Sounds like a question for a moderator.

When we were moving to Russia a few years ago, I joined the Russian Expat group and their board has all kinds of nifty reporting tools. You can rate posters on how helpful (or not) they are, as well as the usual Praise or Report options. I'd like to see more options like that one day.
