This question is for ANY ONE who has experienced this themselves or knows of someone who has.

Basically I want to know if my husband should go ahead an pick up his K-3 packet from the Embassy on Wednesday or should he hold off and pick it up after our CR-1 is approved from the NVC. I think I've read somewhere on VJ that its possible to replace the K-3 Interview date for a CR-1 Interview (once approved). Our CR-1 petition approval should come very soon.

As you can see from my timeline below, I received a RFE on Wednesday for the CR-1 petition. I immediately called the NVC for additional information and FedEx'd the documents requested the next day on Thursday (2-day priority vs. overnight) which they will receive on Monday, 5/4/09.

In the meantime, my husband also received a letter from the Embassy requesting that he come pick up Packet 3 for the K-3 petition on ANY WEDNESDAY at 7:30 a.m.. I'm hoping, if he holds off picking up the packet for a week or so, we will have an approval from the NVC for the CR-1 petition. I'm not sure how long after the NVC approval we can expect an interview date. What's the normal waiting time?

I was also wondering if he goes ahead and picks up the K-3 packet, is he given an Interview date the same time or is it assigned after biometrics? If so, then how possible is it to switch out the K-3 interview for a CR-1 interview (if it is approved before the K-3 Interview)?

Thanks,

Moses Angel J

IMO, I would have him pick it up. Since Ghana schedules their interview about 2-4 months out, it is possible that you can turn the K3 interview into a CR1 interview.

Check in the K3 forum for people that may have done that.

GOod luck :)
