Hi,

my fiance stayed in the US on a student visa before and already had a SSN issued. After she finsiehd up school, she went back to her home country.

Now, we did the K1 visa process and have already got the visa in hand. I am wondering does she need to go to SSN office again to get information clear up? issue another SSN?

also, for greencard filling, it requires to submit a birth certification, so i am wondering on POE, do immigration office open up the yellow/brown package and took everything? or they return some stuff back. Because I do believe my fiance's birth certificate is in that package.

thanks

Social security card/number is issued for life so no need to apply for another one.

For AOS you'll need the birth certificate (copy) and English translation - you might be able to get the original back that you submitted with the K1 petition but that could take time - best to obtain another one (in my opinion).

No need to get another SSN card, unless you want one with a married name, you can always wait until after getting green-card and apply for a replacement SSN card.

It is recommended to get a couple of notarial birth certs and translations before leaving China, they will be needed later for other things like marriage, AOS filing, etc..

NO, Police cert, and Single Cert are required by the consulate, and NOT needed later for AOS.
