hey chelsea! I'm glad you all are doing well!

Yader just went to take his driver's license exam yesterday (passed!!) and we were told by Highway Patrol (who gves the test) that we just needed his passport and I-94 (this is in MO). THey just looked it up under K-1. But when we went to the other side at the DMV, and they said, oh yeah, that's right we only need his I-94, passport, etc. but ths I-94 expires on 5/22, so they wouldn't give it to us!

they said we have to wait until he has work authorization. He has a SSN already and I took that and showed it, but they said no just EAD.

So ... I don t know! Confused. I looked it up on the MO DMV website and it has a list of all the necessary documents for immigrants, and "adjustment of status' is listed sayng that he only needs a passport...so I guess we are gong to wait for our NOA1 and try again.

HEADACHE!

Good luck!

Hi, Sarah. I'm in St. Louis too! My driver's license expired (at the same time as my K-1 did) so I'm going to wait for my NOA for the AOS and then head back to the license office to renew. I hope I can do so without my EAD or that would seriously suck. I'll let you know how it goes.

My check was cashed today so that's one step forward, a million more to go.

AOS, EAD and AP Journey

* Married on March 18, 2009.

* NOAs for AOS, EAD, and AP issued on May 14, 2009 and received on May 18, 2009.

* Biometrics letter received on May 20, 2009.

* Biometrics appointment on June 4, 2009 at 8 am.

* EAD and AOS touched on June 5, 2009.

* EAD card production ordered and AP approved on June 17, 2009.

* EAD card received on June 25, 2009.

* AP received on June 26, 2009.

Well we have the marriage license and a statement from the bank so we'll see if they accept that to show proof of VA residency...ALTHOUGH we're moving at the end of this month so I really don't want him to get his license and then have to carry a stupid change of address card with it.

Also, did you get trouble taking out a SS# because I read on the Social Security office that you can't take one out just to get a license, you're supposed to have a reason or EAD. We may just wait, as he doesn't really need it just yet.

This is all so complicated! Headache is right!

I received my biometrics appointment letter today also and our appointment is scheduled for June, 2nd!

:dance::dance::dance::dance:

yay!! congrats! :dance::dance:

Con!Kiwiana,as here so many people posted,you can go there before the date schedulled if you want :secret::yes:

Thanks! yes, i have read that some people have walked in and got it done earlier but I had so much trouble getting an SSN (the people at the department were so incompetent) and I am still waiting for it to be put into my married name, that I think i will wait for my appointment date to get the biometrics done.

I really don't want to take the risk of more problems arising if i go in earlier. :wacko:

Congrats Kiwiana and Nanda! things are moving forward already! How exciting!

I have a question for any of you who live in California about driver's license, I went to the DMV and I was told I need my EAD. I'm fine with that but how is it going to work? I have a French driver's license. I know I'll have to pass the written test. What about the driving part? Will I have to practice? Any info is welcome.

Thanks,

Alice

I asked a vj member recently about the cali drivers licence as they had just sat one and they told me that you need your EAD to get one and have to do a written test and a driving one :thumbs:

Yeah well hate to say it but it'll also be nice when all this "pays off" and there will be additional income in the house! Hopefully the EAD will take about 2 months...that'll be good!

NOA Today for AOS, EAD, AP!!!!! :dancing:

I'm getting nervous!!!! :unsure:

Also I have my dr's appointment on tuesday and this week has been the week of hell for me trying to get my stuff sent from my dr's back in Canada.

It took lots of teeth pulling but it looks like the CS down here finally has it!

I was adding up today how much money we've spent on "other" things. Like 2x cartridges of ink ($50), Marriage Licence Copies ($30), Passport Pictures ($20) ect.....

So costly!
