I have completely underestimated the morons at USCIS. It seems we are being punished for having a legitimate marriage and for my husband coming from a country known for being on good relations with the U.S. and not having a history of terrorism or marriage fraud. The Morons have sent a second RFE and I am positive it is about the marriage certificate. Perhaps they will surprise me and it will be about something legitimate.

If you don't have a valid Driver's licence or MV ID card then you can carry the EAD card as your ID, don't carry the GC leave it in a safe place at home unless you are applying or a job where they request to see it and photocopy it.

That's whay my hubby is doing until he gets a DL.

And btw congratz to all who got their GC, that is a very expensive, valuable doc appreciated by identity thefts.

Take care all!!!

Is there any reason to hold on to the EAD, now that we have our GCs? Is there any specific benefit to it? will it be requested from us in the future?

Hi everybody!

I am sorry, I wasn't reading the forum for a long time. My GreenCard process became a big mess and the last two months were just horror for me and my husband.

First of all, CONGRATS to all that received their GC!!! THis is so exciting.

USCIS was giving us a really hard time. We received the invitation for our interview beginnging of July. The interview was scheduled for August 19th (a wednesday) at 1pm. Right after we received the invitation we called the customer service center and requested a reschedule, because my husband doesn't get any vacation because of the economy. And he has every other Friday off (plant shut downs) and is supposed to do all private issues on those Fridays. We called the service center again couple of times a week before our scheduled interview and they said even if we haven't heard anything yet about the reschedule, not to go down there. Two days after our scheduled interview I received a denial message saying "we didn't show up for the interview without sending the office a notice or reschedule request". So we went to our local office and they said this happens all the time and we will get a notice about the reschedule soon. Puh, we thought! Well, then our reschedule request was denied. Reson? "The request just seems to be more convinient for your husband". Give me a break!!! Loosing a job is not just a unconvienience it is also loosing the support for me requested by USCIS. So we went down their again and discussed a long time with the girl there. She said never to call the service center "they are just contractors", but to come to the local office instead. Then she told us to just send a new application for AOS, so another 1000$ NO WAY!! Well, after she recognized that we won't leave without at least speaking to her supervisor, we finally got to speak to him. Then he explained us that they don't do interviews on Fridays. Well, couldn't they just tell us that and with that letter my husband could have gone to his employer and request to have a half day off. So the supervisor discussed a long time with my husband and we ended up having our interview right away (and this was a Friday). Totally unprepaired, but we did it. And then....my medical was missing. Great!!! So I talked to the German doctor who did it. She said she doesn't have anything. Then I called the embassy in Germany and they finally found it and sent a copy to me and I submitted it yesterday. Hopefully now the story is over and I will finally get my GC. Getting to denial letters in a row is really frustrating.

When I was down there yesterday I have met another couple which got a denial letter because they didn't change their address. Well, they did through the service center, but it never got through!

So to finalize that whole story: "NEVER CALL THE SERVICE CENTER FOR IMPORTANT ISSUES!!!!

Did they give you a reason why? If they lost it, you can try contacting the embassy where he got the visa. Or you can try to contact a congressman and maybe they can find them. If they just request a total new one, I have no idea. Sorry.

But that sux. I was close to that too even though I have had it done in February too. But the embassy in Germany could send it in time.

Got our secodn RFE - again with the medical. Apparently, they think my husband needs to retake the whole medical exam even though he just had the medical back in Feb. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do? Give in and cough up the money? Thanks.

And congrats to everyone who have made it through the process so far!

Our current theory, after he saw the doctor today, is that the chest x-ray is only good for 3 months. So by the time we sent the AOS package, he needed to be retested anyway. Oh well, we're just redoing it.

Just because of the X-Rays? I still got mine. Nobody ever wanted to see them. Well, better you just do it and get over with all that. I know it's hard to spend another 300$. Good luck for the rest of your case. I hope that's the last RFE you will have.
