Wow, I already had my EAD card in the mail yesterday. That was fast!! Not even a week after I got the e-mail.

Now we will see how long it takes for my interview letter....looking at the timelines for Detroit here on VJ nobody gets transfered without an interview. People who applied in April are still waiting for their interview, so I guess it will still take at least a month for me to hear anything. Isn't that weird though, that they say on the USCIS site that Detroit is still working on November applications and here on VJ all the February filers already got approved?

I am getting kind of anxious about that interview. We don't have that much to bring as proofs. I am not on the lease. The only thing we would have so far are our wedding pictures and a joined bank account. Well, and my ID shows the same address as my husbands. What else could we bring?

Congrats on the card!!

I think that USCIS times on their website are wrong or something. It shows that St.Paul is processing stuff from August 2008 but I've seen someone since then have an interview and get approved. So maybe they still ARE working on applications from then, but still process new stuff too? Oh I should note too that on the USCIS website it says:

Field Office Processing Dates for Saint Paul MN as of: April 30, 2009. So obviously it hasn't been updated in like 2 months.

It seems like everyone who filed at the beginning of the year have been approved/have interviews now so I'm sure we'll have ours before the end of the year.

I'm nervous about the interview too! Just because I can have panic attacks when I'm nervous about stuff so that's ALL I need to have in the middle of the interview!!

Here's the stuff we have so far in my "box" for the interview. Maybe it'll give you some ideas for your stuff.

- Health Insurance Forms showing I'm on husbands

- Life Insurance Forms showing I'm beneficiary

- Letter from bank saying we have a joint account

- I will have bank statements ( I just got put on as a joint holder because I had to wait for SSN)

- Apartment Lease ( although I'll only have this if the interview is after September because they won't let us change the lease until it ends)

- Pictures

- Letters from few family members & friends

- Various things send to the apartment to both of us, cards, random other mail

- Contracts for our wedding reception

I hope to figure out more. I can't get put on for our electric bill because here they only let one person/lease. Same with cable. We have no creditcards or cell phones (we live really simply lol). And we use Skype for our phone because the long distance back to canada was killing our regular phone bill.

I'm not sure what else I can get. I'm sure I could bring a copy of our gym membership too.

I really am trying not to get worked up about the interview because then I get nervous, start freaking out. I can be a pessimist sometimes so I need all the positive thinking I can get!

Thanks for the list. That sounds pretty good. The insurance is a good point. And I got a letter from my husbands work that I get some support in case something happens to him. And I am the benficiary of his special savings account. Our lease still runs till December. But as soon as I found a job we want to look for a house, so depending on the interview date I might be on a mortgage.

I think you are pretty good set up and don't have to worry at all.

S.FU + T.FU: Do we have to bring copies of birth certificates and passports? And if so, do those copies have to be notarized?

Hi B&J,

Here's the list of things that I will be bringing to the interview which I have compiled thus far:

For Us:

1. Apartment lease contract since 2007 with both our names on the contracts.

2. Medical/health insurance as my husband as the subscriber and me as the spouse. Both our insurance cards.

3. Home utilities with some utilities under his name and some other my name with the same address. Also online authorizations showing that he/I is the authorized user.

4. Cell phone account with my husband in my family plan.

5. Joint checking account

6. Joint savings account

7. Joint credit card account with statements showing our names in detail.

8. Letters from family addressing both our names on it since 2004.

9. Two copies of my husband's birth certificate & passport

10. Two copies of my birth certificate, passport, I-20 + F-1 student Visa [My legal entry into the U.S.],

11. Photographs of the two of us and with friends and family members dating back to 2002 [so far 100+ photos].

12. Copies of my husband and my SSN card. [just to have in case they request]

13. Our marriage certificate

14. Unofficial transcripts from the boarding high school; where we met. As a proof that we both went to the same school, and that was how we met.

To be worked on:

1. Joint auto insurance--> having some trouble with DMV.

2. Another letter/statement from my husband's current employer verifying that he is currently working at the company in this position for X amount of pay, on ave. X amount of hours. Two months of pay stubs. Since my interview is in Aug. We'll be printing out June 2009, and July 2009.

3. Affidavit from our friends knowing about this marriage and about our relationship since the day they have known us.

4. Any updated application forms that we needed to update will be reprinted. [Made a few typos that we didn't realize till recent]

5. Hopefully once I receive my renewed license [which might take till august] will be an evidence that we both live in the same address.

Hope this helps. Pretty much include anything that has both your names on it. The more the merrier.

Best,

T.Fu

Happy 7/4.

T.Fu: Great list! Thanks for taking the time and publishing it. one more thing you can add (if applicable) is itineraries of vacations taken together.

Hi Everyone!! Hope you had a good 4th of July!!! It was my first one so we had a fantastic time

I received our interview appointments today for 20th August in Philly so now I am absolutely petrified again!! It's just like going to the Embassy all over again :crying: trying to look at it that this should be the last part of a long journey. Now though I have to make sure that my husband and I are in photos again, which isnt normal when you are the one that takes the photos.

Good luck to all of you, hope this process ends soon for all of us so we dont have to continue being monkeys in a cage at the zoo.

S.FU + T.FU: Do we have to bring copies of birth certificates and passports? And if so, do those copies have to be notarized?

B&J

Regarding the birth certificates and passports I'm just going to have photocopies, not the original copies. The photocopy is for the IO to keep and I will also bring the original along if he wants to take a look at the original.

I'll have to try to dig up e-mails of our itineraries way back in 07 o.O hopefully I'll be able to find it. We do have visas to Japan w/ the same dates so we'll see :P.

Hi Aloe,

I am sorry for this. That really sucks. Why don't you call USCIS to find out what is going on. As you had some RFEs it might be because of that. Don't just give up, try to find out more and give it a shot to call.

Hey everyone, hope all had a great weekend and celebrated well.

Just to let people know, we received my AP in the mail yesterday, 2 pieces of paper with my photo on it?? Wierd i thought that they only sent 2? Anyway, we have it so thats a relief. Nothing on the EAD as yet tho, our last touch was 6/22/09 and we havent heard anything since, I am gettin kinda anxious now, I havent works for 3 months now and i have worked everyday since i was 17, so to wait this long to get back out there is very frustrating. Things are getting very tight here also with only one income, is there anything anyone reccomends doing??

Also is it normal to receive the AP before the EAD, i read that alot of people got the together, im getting a little worried that there was something wrong with the forms maybe? Ahhhhh i just want to be able to work and earn a living, any ideas/comments?

Congrats to all the people who have received better news and EAD cards, good luck on the job search

Thanks, Stuart.
