There is a sect of Catholics, I can't remember the name, but they celebrate the liturgy pre-vatican II. We also have a local pastor that is an Irish throwback in Sebastopol. My uncle and cousin were part of the sect, and when my uncle died, they sang "Ave Maria" at the gravesite. I do miss the old High Masses, and the Gregorian chants. Something almost Zen, in a good performance. There are some albums out there, and I found a few performances on Youtube.

Sounds like the monks of Santo Domingo de Silos, who did the CHANT albums a number of years ago. I have several of those, plus other chant CDs. On occasion, our choir will do pieces based on various ancient chants and other centuries-old music from :)

It depends if you want your congregation to understand what the #### is going on in the service, or just enjoy a sublime performance. That would rather depend on what you expect from the experience - it's not a concert after all.

It's not necessarily an either/or. English translations of the Latin parts of the liturgy can be included in weekly service folders. Plus, the core of the liturgy doesn't change from week to week, so people would become familiar with it.

Whether it's politics, or religion, it is all about theater. What distinguishes the Catholics from other Christians, by and large, are the Sacraments, and that is great theater. I wonder what the Bard would say.

The Sacraments, at least Holy Communion and Baptism, are not unique to the Roman Catholic Church.

Can this thread please return to the important topic of lesbians? I suggest picking it up right about here. Mmm... just what is it about those skirts?

Works for me, since I just opened a private religious school, for lesbians only.

Those aren't skirts - they're belts!

I wonder how a woman could sit while wearing one of those skirts...

Silly Rabbit

Those skirts aren't made for sitting

There made for Phucking........

Reminds me of a story...

I was at a shopping mall with a family friend (he was 30 and I was 13 at the time) and we passed a woman's shoe store. I noticed some high-heeled shoes with enormous heels -- six inches and up. I asked my friend, "How could a woman walk in those?" He responded, "Those shoes weren't made for remaining vertical."
