ask for 20 peso denomination, better yet get all the denomination you can have. So you can pay your taxi driver the exact amount of fare or else don't expect a change.

have fun! :)

Yes and Yes. Most international flights arrive around 11 PM. There was place to pay your taxi fare inside the airport. Outside you may be charged whatever the taxi driver feels like charging.

I am going to be arriving in Manila Sunday around 11PM at night. Will the money changer at the airport be open that late? I will need money for a taxi. Thank you

Everyone is correct. Don't be shy once you are outside if you look bewildered or overcome by everything they sense it and there will be 2 or 3 people/sharks running up to you trying to "help" you for a fee in american dollars. They will offer to call or get you a taxi just tell them you are okay. If you are meeting someone they are on the otherside of the roadway of where the taxis are parked. You will see some signs with last names beginning with ABC then DEF then GHI etc etc just stand next to the one that correlates to you and look into the crowd they can come over once they see you there and meet up with you. My wife had a sign with my name on it and promptly found me.

Money changer is open 24/7 and there is a couple of them. Bring the cleanest straighest and untorn money you can get because they are picky. Be prepared for a bit of a wait as the lines are often long. You do not have to change all at once there is money changers all over PI. Also make sure you save 750 PHP for when you leave. YES they charge you that to leave the airport and once you drop your luggage off and go through security they have you. They say is to pay for security etc. All I had was $20 USD and of course she said she had no change. Oh well. Bring a pen also you have to fill out a paper also. Seems no one wants to let you borrow one as they are all in a hurry.

Have fun PI can be great lots of security everywhere and best not to travel around alone if all possible. I was lucky basically had my wife her sister and brother in law most times with us out and about in town.

International Airports have flat rate taxis. (usually around Php700)

You can give tips to the driver.. Php50 is good enough.

Maybe you should ask someone to wait for you at the airport?

it's best not to change all your money at the airport, better rates can be found somewhere else.

With having gone over to PI three times in the past several years, I would highly recommend

#1. Do not take traveler checks with you, although they are to be safe, I found it was very difficult to find anyone to exchange them. When we did the prices they charged were terrible. Once out of a major city area no one at all exchanged them.

#2. Usually we found that the exchange rate that is charged is very poor, even at the airport. What we did was we used XOOM and transferred the funds directly from account to my fiancee' account they gave a much better exchange rate. The funds are transferred within minutes. and available to use right away.

Hope you have a great trip. It's a beautiful country and the people are even more beautiful.
