I just got here on March interview thread. I read the first page of March interview -- it looks like it is outdated. so How can I find out if the case has been shipped out? Do I have to call NVC and ask for DHL tracking number?

Have you checked your case status on the CEAC site? I think it changes from AT NVC, to IN TRANSIT, to READY. or something like that.

What is the point of doing this? Does it give you an indication of when your interview date will be? How do you even know it is your package?

You would already have the interview date scheduled before they mail the package out (except in some cases for expedites).

As to the point, it's a way to see when your package arrives at the embassy/consulate. There's of course no 100% guarantee to know your package is in there, but it's a fun way to pass the time and to get a good estimate of when your package arrives, if you want/need to know.

But this isn't at all necessary to do, just something fun :)

Ok thanks :) I was hoping it was some magical crystal ball but it seems like "just something fun" :)

Sorry, if it's obvious, but what exactly does the NVC status READY mean? The explanation in the little CEAC window that comes with the status is meaningless for K-1. (Something about interview that has been scheduled)

So, are they sending it to the embassy, is it on its way to the embassy, or is it already there?

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

That's correct but that also means it's being shipped today so you can't really check until tomorrow. At least I couldn't with mine until after midnight...

check on the ceac website and when it says shipped do the day before that

"READY" means the Embassy/Consulate has received your paperwork. The status doesn't change until the Embassy/Consulate scans your Bar Code into their system.

Thought this would be a good place to post this...

When your interview is scheduled at NVC, the person scheduling your interview scans the bar code on your paperwork and enters a code on the system that generates your P4 letter.

Your paperwork is then packaged together and sent to be shipped. The shipping clerk works with DHL software and "registers" the package with your paperwork (and perhaps others for your Consulate/Embassy). When the "registration" occurs, your status changes to "In Transit". There can be quite a bit of time between the "I've got my interview" and when NVC actually SENDS the packet to the Embassy/Consulate.

But here is the catch. Just because the package is "registered" with DHL, doesn't mean it necessarily leaves NVC that day. All the registration does is tell DHL - "Hey - come pick up a package for the xxxx Embassy". It could be up to 3 days (registered on Friday - picked up on Monday, for example) before your package physically leaves NVC. Or, it could physically leave NVC on the same day that your "In Transit" status changes. That's why you never REALLY know which package has your paperwork in it.

Many Embassies/Consulates have mail facilities that are at a different location than the offices where you interview. Sometimes this is for safety reasons, and sometimes for convenience.

When a DHL package is delivered to the Embassy mail facility, it may take another day for someone to scan your bar code into the Embassy's system. So that is why your package might appear to have been delivered, but the "READY" status doesn't appear right away.

When you get a "READY" status, that means that the Embassy/Consulate has opened the DHL package and has scanned in the bar code(s) of the paperwork inside.

I know for most all of us that a delay of ONE DAY seems like the end of the world!

Best of luck to all of you!

I used the trick given in the manner given and there's only one package going to my consulate. I waited until my package said in transit then used the day before that.......which also happened to be the day after the case number was assigned.

It sounds like the Ceac site updates between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm est. Before that I was still at NVC, now I am "In Transit."

I am impressed, haha, it really does work. Mine is set to arrive on Tuesday. There are 2 pieces being sent from NVC to Manila. Sounds like a standard 2:30-3 PM pm pick up each day. EXP 09 APR 2015A and then in other boxes put the day before and also 2 days after. So basically put from 07 Apr to 11 apr. and then destination the Philippines and it pulled right up. Very nice.
