Hey!

Here is my story:I got the work authorization.I went to the Social Security to change my name .(The work authorization is on my married name and the ssn card in my maiden name).SSA couldn;t find me in the immigration system and they said they need few weeks to check the work authorization authentification. It;s been a month and I didn't receive anything.I called SSA yesterday and they said they mailed the papers to USCIS and they are waiting for them to mail them back. They don;t know how long does it take.On the notice that they gave me when I applied for name change it says that this verfication can take up to 12 weeks.

Anyway I heard that some people urged the process by making an infopass.I am wondering how long does it take from the date I make the infopass to tha date I have the appoinment?A month?A week?Or right away?I understand I make this appoinment online.Do I need to wait for USCIS to mail me a printed appoinment like the biometrics appoinment was?

Thanks guys!

Have a nice day!

Is there a reason why you are needing this to happen quickly (quickly is loosely defined)?

YMMV

And in the mean time, you still have your old/maiden-name SS-card I presume - so if you needed to show it for work-purposes (or any other I guess) you could still do so. Having it in maiden name isn't a big deal.

Depends how busy the office is. In the past, I've been able to schedule one for a few days time, some other times I haven't been able to schedule one at all (completely booked up). As far as I understand, the Infopass system only allows you to make appointments for as far as a few weeks into the future so you shouldn't have to wait longer than that.

Yes, you schedule it online, here. You don't have to wait for a confirmation letter because you print it out right there and then (so make sure you schedule the appointment from a computer that has a printer available, go to your nearest Kinko's if needs be.)

I have no idea if they'll be able to help with the SAVE database being out of date (which is why the SSA couldn't do the verification on the spot) but that's how you get an appointment. Take the printout and photo ID when you go.

Adjustment of Status from K-1 (Very abridged version)

Yes

I cannot apply for driving licence because the name on SSN doesn;t match the one on the Work authorization,After severals denies from DMV this was the last reason:the system gives errors if the information doesn;t match and they cant do anything about it.So first I need to change my name on SSN.And yes I need driving licence..I don;t have how to go at work or school.
