This is so strange. I was JUST LOOKING for the number to contact VSC and low and behold I have this in my mail.

Post-Decision Activity

On October 6, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

Well this is great!!! you got approved !!!!! now is time to start getting all the stuff approved..... I suggest going to the website for the Embassy in Bogota and start looking for whatever you need...also contact other Colombian beneficiaries that might give you tips to make the whole thing easier....

So if you were approved today.... wait two-three days.... and start calling NVC... their phone number is on the website... look it up by simply typing NVC on google... the work from 7:30am-12:00am....they will ask for your case number, names, & DOB of both you and you SO......when they get the package they will tell you when it leaves the NVC for Bogota.... and then you can use the DHL tool for tracking packages....if you dont have it... go in this forum couple of pages back and look for the information on how to track packages that leave the NVC.... once you know the package has been received in Bogota, follow whatever advice you can get from the other Colombians here on VJ... from this point on I dont know if CCS and BOG have the same guidelines( I doubt it)... so is better to ask for advice to people from CO.... and like I mentioned earlier check the US embassy's website on Bogota...

Good luck and congrats on being approved!!!!

Hi everyone,

Eltemp, I'm happy for you. Did the error on your DOB from NVC ever got fixed?

As for me, I have not yet heard anything from the embassy. I've tried contacting them by email, phone call, even fax, but haven't gotten any repply yet. Now I wonder what to do. and our case left to the embassy with a DOB error too. and that's another thing to worry about

BTW...will the police report/birth certificate and so on..need to be translated into english?

Fey, will she need to receive the packet from the embassy before she sends this in? Is there a way to know the BGT case number before hand?

Hey Licia,

I dont think the mistake was corrected.... my advice is take all the paperwork showing the correct DOB to the interview... thats all you can do...in that regard.... and about contacting them... if none of that works....do you live far from the embassy? you can swing by if not... however, if that is not a possibility, I would certainly try calling them, writting them, etc... until you get a response....

USA PLUS COLOMBIA: NO SHE DOESNT NEED TO WAIT O RECEIVE THE PACKAGE TO DO THIS. SHE CAN DOWNLOAD, FILL AND PRINT THE FORMS BEFORE HAND. HERE IS A GUIDE THAT MIKE AND I USED AND IT IS VERY HELPFUL. IT IS HERE UNDER THESECTION EMBASSY INFO. BUT THIS IS THE PART THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN RIGHT NOW:

The following guide is intended to help K1 visa petitioners. It may also apply to other types of petitions, and does for K3 visa petitions.

1. Once your I-129F is approved (NOA2), your case will be forwarded to the National Visa Center.

2. Start calling NVC everyday about 2 days after your I-129F has been approved at: 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5. You will need to reach a live person to get information on your case since the NVC’s automated system does not handle K1 visas.

Give this person your I-797 NOA1 receipt #, they will let you know if your package has been received. Once NVC receives your case, they will assign a new case # that will begin with BGTXXXXXXXXXX. Make sure you get the new case # and write it down.

A. If it has not been received.

Keep calling every few days until they receive it. Don’t pay attention

to their script. They will tell you it may take 4 weeks for them to receive your case. It does not usually take that long. Sometimes it only takes a few days.

B. If your case has been received.

Ask them if it has been forwarded to the embassy. If your case has not been forwarded, wait a day and then call again. NVC does not usually hold the cases more than a few days.

3. After NVC sends your package to the embassy it should arrive in approximately 3 business days via DHL. Your package will also be sent electronically to the embassy but it needs to physically arrive before the embassy takes action.

4. When you estimate that your package has arrived at the embassy call DOS at 202-663-1225 x1, x0 to confirm. You will need your new BGT case number. (See Step 2)

5. After confirming that the embassy has your package follow these steps. You do NOT need to wait until you receive package 3.

A. Prepare your package 3 response. It should include the following items only:

1. DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3 instructions)

2. DS-230 Part I (pages 1 & 2 only) signed

3. Copy of beneficiary´s biographical page from her passport

4. Cover letter

B. Fax your response to Package 3 to the embassy at 011-57-1-(315-4155) OR

Mail it to: ( I did it via DHL because they use a tracking number)

EMBAJADA DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS

UNIDAD DE VISAS DE IMIGRANTE

CARRERA 45 # 24 B - 27.

BOGOTA, D.C.

OR email it to (you print the forms after filling them and scan them afterwards): IVBogota@state.gov

6. After receiving your Package 3 response the embassy will schedule your interview. To discover your interview date call DOS at (202) 663-1225 x1, x0. You may also call the embassy consular section for visas for your interview date at: 011-57-1-315-1566. They only acept calls on Wednesdays between 2:00 & 4:00 PM.

HERE IS EVERYTHING THAT YOU NEED. AND THE DOCUMENTS SHE TAKES TO THE EMBASSY DO NOT NEED TO BE TRANSLATED.

TELL HER IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WHEN SHE GOES TO GET THE POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM DAS TO MAKE SURE SHE SAYS SHE NEEDS IT TO TRAVEL TO THE STATES.

WHEN SHE GOES TO GET HER BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO TELL THE PERSON SHE NEEDS IT TO GET MARRIED. SO THEY PUT A STAMP ON IT THAT SAYS IT IS VALID FOR MARRIAGE. AND SHE SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST TWO OF THESE.

TELL HER SHE CAN JOIN THE FORUM COLOMBIANOS EN VISA K1, IT IS IN SPANISH AND IT HAS A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT S WILLING TO HELP.

BEST LUCK WITH EVERYTHING!!!

OH YEAH I ALMOST FORGOT I HAVE MY INTERVIEW DATE ON NOV. 13TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

We were given: Two hands to hold. Two legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.
