Do any of you know how to get the other number, CRS, of your case that is not the USCIS one, before the case arrives to NVC???

eltemp,

If the NVC has not received your file, you won't get the number. Once they receive it, then they assign you the number. If you've tried the automated system at NVC (as I have), you will find that they don't have you in the system (even if it arrived) as the automated system does not apply to K1's.

Hope that helps!

Tina

Tina,

Thanks a lot... well I guess I have to wait is just that for the embassy in Venezuela I can request my interview as soon as I have that NVC case number... anyhow... I called today and nothing... I'll call tonight :P ... if nothing still... I hope Monday they will have it....

I guess I was just hopeful that they had it becase USCIS had an update yesterday.....

Did you call the embassy yet? or have they contacted you yet?

I think the update just means that it has been sent to NVC, not necessarily that NVC has received it. Ours was sent last Friday and NVC got it on Monday. However, I have heard that there are people whose case did not reach NVC until a week or two weeks later (no idea why), but hopefully your case would be like mine. Good luck!

Tina

Well I called the embassy and it's pretty much confirmed packet 3 got lost. The lady was very nice. So the alternative we worked out was for her to email packet 3 to me. I hope that works out well since I have no idea what packet 3 should look like. Anyways, will keep you guys posted!

Farah,

packet 3, I dont know if its that different in your country than from the others, but it should just be a list of things you need to gather, and the forms for the medical exam, so don't worry about it... electronic communication is so much better anyway....

At least in Venezuela they do not even send the mail packet because they know how crappy the postal service there is

I got Packet 3.

It's basically a checklist with forms to send back to them, forms to bring to the interview, info on police certificate and an additional form OF-167 where the sponsor has to sign something about food stamps.

So basically what I have to send back on Packet 3 is:

Form DS-230 Part1

The checklist (ticked where appropriate and signed) but only the checklist and not items on the checklist

A copy of the front page of my passport.

That's it.

They say interview takes 4-8 weeks after they receive the checklist back. DAAAAAAAAAMN. I don't have all the affidavit of support info yet though.

DS-156

DS-156K

I-134 and all that is apparently presented at the interview itself.

N-400 Stuff:
07/02/16 : N-400 sent

07/11/16 : NOA1

07/28/16 : Biometrics

04/03/17: Interview (approved)

04/14/17: Judicial oath ceremony

Leo&Farah,

Consider yourself lucky, as our consulate asks us to wait 4-6 months for interview once we send in packet 3......I really hope I won't have to wait that long. AAAHHH!

I doubt it will be that long. I read it takes 2 months for Canadians from a few other threads. Hope for the best.

The checklist directed me to this site to download the appropriate forms and fill them up:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

So, if anyone wants to practice forms go right ahead.

DS-230 Part 1 and Part 2

DS-156 X2

DS-156k

DS-157 (for males)

Good Morning everyone!!!

i have not ever been able to see my case online since we applied and our lawyer has been a little inactiev (to be polite). I also had not heard anything about the progress of my case through VSC. This morning (after getting into a huge argument with SO last night) decided to try to type in my case number again on the USCIS website and found this message:

Receipt Number: EAC0916052261

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On September 17, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

WE GOT APPROVED!!!!!! I am over the moon and even happier because my fiance is actually coming into town tonight...we are going to celebrate :)

thank you so much for all your support...this website has been so helpful for me and my sanity!!!

my prayers are for those who are still waiting...i guess patience is a virtue :)

Toronto Nonie,

CONGRATS!!!:dance::dance::dance: wonderful news!!! I hope your the rest of the process goes speedy as well!!!

Everyone else... question: when filling out those tedious forms online there are fields where I dont know if N/A or Not applicable is what is required. For instance, my fiancee has never been married so under husband and children I put N/A in all the ones I can over the computer, but on fields for dates... I can't so do I leave them blank?

Wow, well I dont know about the process in your country so I would not know... but when I had my medical done which was 6 years ago.... you had to go with the forms to the Dr and then he would fill them out and put them in a envelope, that you could not open, and take those with you to the interview. But the Dr. did not tell my fiancee for her appointment to bring them, maybe he has them... I dont know... anyhow I told her to take them just in case....Now, if you need them or anyone else needs them let me know.... I can forward them over e-mail.

I think "N/A" is appropriate response if they never were married, and leave dates blank. The people at the consulate are smart enough to figure it out, I think. Congratulations to Nonie and others recently receiving approval. I know how horrible it is to wait... I'll never forget it in fact, it was misery.

Congrats Shannon!!!!!!!!! See, I knew yours was coming! Hope you pass NVC just as fast as I did!:dance::dance:

Eltemp, I have most of the forms. Unlike other embassies, other than the DS 156, we're supposed to submit an online form DS 160 and send it to the embassy, print out the confirmation form and send with all the other forms (very complicated if you ask me). As soon as the packet 3 comes, I'll send the forms the same day) and start calling DoS every day for an appointment.

I truly hope that we won't have to wait the 4-6 months they are saying (keeping fingers crossed!)

ugh! 4-6 months for the consulate interview! that's horrible! my sympathy to you. Probably because there are a lot of Visa applicants from Canada, so those are busy consulates. Well, at least you are on the same continent together... I hope you are able to visit frequently. Not so easy when your love lives on a different continent. We've only had two visits together in 3 years, one for 3 weeks in Italy, another for 3 months in Texas.

We have been APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went on the website today to check and it wasn't showing me the option to check my status online, so then I called the number and the agent said it was approved today!

Thank you all for the advice, now on to the part 2 of our journey with NVC...

There are only two consulates in Canada, one in Vancouver, the other in Montreal. West coast cities go to Vancouver and East coast goes to Montreal. I will keep calling DoS. I have nothing better to do anyway, since I will be out of a job in October :( Oh well, c'est la vie!

I'm just hoping for an appointment by mid-December before Christmas *crossing fingers*
