Hi guys! I'm sorry to bother you all but I was wondering if anyone could help.

Originally Igor's list said we would be approved somewhere towards the middle of July. Now its looking like the beginning of June. I'm very happy about this but worried at the same time.

I made travel plans to go to Florida to visit him for a week at the end of June. Do you think it will be a problem travelling if we receive the NOA2 before I am scheduled to go??? I will have all my proof of tiews to Canada so no worries there but I'm wondering if I will be flagged in the system or something.

Also, does anyone know right now how much time approximately it is taking to get an interview from when they sent in their documents to the embassy? I was figuring I would be here until at least October and now that may change but it would be good to know how long its taking from faxing the info to the actual interview date

Thanks so much to everyone!

The NOA2 will not affect your travel plans.

Interview time varies, for us, it is 2 months or so.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Really? 2 months....that would be fine by me.

I still have some debts to pay off and although I don't want to be away from him longer than i have to at least that means I would still have some time to work and make some more money to save and pay off those bills.

I guess if its 2 months and I sent all my paperwork in by august that I would have an interview in somewhere in oct.

Thats not so bad.

keep in mind the above poster isnt going through Vancouver or Montreal.so time wise things could be different. A zillion posts on Cdns visiting while undergoing the POE process, and the majority never have a problem, just tell the truth and don't tell your life story, and ties to canada. best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yes exactly. I traveled to the US 3 times after I received my NOA2 and never had any problems. Just have your evidence to be safe, and answer the questions they ask honestly.

As far as interviews go, I sent back my packet 3 February 18th and had my interview in Montreal yesterday, April 29th. I thought that was quite fast, and some others on the site had their interviews even before reaching 2 months of waiting. So it really varies, but most seem to get an interview within 3-4 months, often before. Good luck!!

Try and take a look at timelines from the same timeframe from last year because things seem to speed up from Jan-April and then slowdown again once the summer months hit. Could be everyone taking vacation, or who knows... but don't just go on the timelines for people right now.

We had a relatively longer wait for things, and I'm pretty sure it was because we sent out packet in right before summer vacations started or something.

Anyways, you'll want to budget about 2-4 months from when you send back the Packet 3 to an interview.

Personally, I budgeted 1 year from when I sent in my initial packet to moving, so that a. I could save money and pay off my debts and b. not get my hopes up of moving too fast.

It's really worked out well in the end. I have enough money saved that I don't need to stress about a job and I've had a lot of time to prepare myself (and my friends and family) for the move. I will admit this last month is a bit hard, but its not as hard as not knowing when I'm going to be there...

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Thanks everybody! Worse comes to worse i figure I'll get the interview if its 4 months by December/January. LOL. that means i'll be able to get my

x-mas bonus from my company before i leave for good which means extra money for me and extra money is always a good thing. it'll help with the moving costs for sure.

Also it means that if i have to stay here til then that i will be able to completely pay off all my debts completely and leave canada debt free and with extra cash in hand. thats awesome.

and if god willing i do get the interview within 2 months i definitely won't be crying...except tears of joy of course :)
