I was married once for 16 years...I filed after counseling and have 2 wonderful teens.

Andy was married 2x...once when he was 19 to an older girl and she left. (He was a spoiled wild child then LOL) He married again when he was 34 (tried to reconcile with the mother of his 21 yr old daughter). Still didn't work after all those years and he was the one to start the divorce.

I never thought that I'd divorce the man I married so long ago but I was so young (21) and naive. I wish I knew then what I know now about love and people in general.

I think I may be the oldest or near to the oldest and I had a 1st marriage of 14 years, in which I had my two great kids, both now grown with families of their own and this year my second hubby, Alan and I celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary :dance::dance: but we have been together for 28 years

I'm not the oldest VJ member, but I MAY be the one with the longest previous marriage......

26 years.

no... that would be me.... 36 years... although it never was what a marriage should be

we stayed for the kids... we stayed for the dogs... we stayed out of habit, fear and lazyness. in the end we were merely roommates in a house big enough that we didn't have to cross paths that often. finally he filed for divorce when his girlfriend insisted... and that left me free to find real love. my ex has not. I had real closure when he told me recently that he has never been in love.. that he doesn't understand the concept.

First marriage for both of us. I don't believe in staying married if it's not working out though. I don't put a lot of stock in the institution of marriage (maybe I'm the only VJer who feels this way) though my own parents have been happily married for 25 years. I probably would never get married for any reason other than a)having kids or b)my partner just so happens to be from a different country...

My 1st marriage at 19 lasted less than a year, but it took 5 years to get divorced. I was then married for 29 years with 4 adult children when I realised I was so unhappy I had to change my life. I never intended to marry again...

zomg.. people divorced more than 2 times.. haven't they think marriage is not for them? (of course if the relationship was abusive or something like that.. well that's different).. but.. i think its a mockery of the institution of marriage to get divorced more than once and try again.. sigh..

I got married for the first time over 20 yrs ago and swore I would never do it again...kept to it too until now....I would happily never be married again as long as we get to stay together....but immigration doesnt agree.....we have become obsessed with getting married for the last 3 years because we had to be in order for us to stay together.
