For the I-129F..IMBRA now asks this question and if you answer yes to anything you need to show certified court documents..Has anyone been denied for something that was not a violent offense..example..... crimes related to controlled substance or alcohol on 3 or more occasions. answer YES here and supply the required court documents.. For simple posession by the petitioner and more than 15 years ago...Or is this just to see if you are being honest as they will do a backgroung check anyway..Has anyone had a experience with this...??

Just be honest. Something that long ago probably won't be held against you. But I know no one who went through this experience.

We have a specific forum here for IMBRA related questions but in short, IMBRA is all about informing the foreign fiance(e). Even if the conviction was last month, if you are truthful and supply the records, there won't be a denial unless the crime falls under the newer Adam Walsh act. That one is a whole other story but unless you have sex crimes against children in your record, no worries.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

For what you mention, no. But they WILL inform your fiancee of any criminal record, even DUI. So if you haven't told her about this, best to do it before the CO does.
