CR-1Interview BUT temporary visa refusal under 221(g), Visa denial under 221g/ Blue slip & White slip

Dear members,

On 27th April same condition applied for my husband CR-1(Immigrant) as did to Savar's husband in Bangladesh. Our interview was great and visa was conditionally approved. However, She gave my husband white slip and blue slip. She also kept my husband's passport and said ADDITIONAL PROCESSING

WE WILL CONTACT YOU AS SOON AS WE RECEIVE THE RESULT.

But as i read at US embassy where it says "When a non-immigrant visa application is conditionally approved and the application requires additional administrative processing, we are unable to estimate how long we will need to complete the processing. The administrative requirements are complex and time consuming and this processing is handled by our headquarters at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. It is difficult to respond to questions concerning the status of your case while the additional processing is pending. As soon as the processing is finished, the consular section staff will contact you. Please do not make any final departure plans to the U.S. until you have your visa in hand."

Why do they need additional processing? What should we do now? How long does this processing takes?Thanx!

Rehana, it's hard to say how long it will take. I would consider it a good sign that they kept his passport, also, there have been articles that say Department of State and FBI are working harder to clear the name checks faster than before so hopefully it will not take so long.

Oh good luck...how long do you have? Do you already have your return flight booked?

I know that I was really hoping my husbands interview would take place during my visit so that I could take him with me too, it was so hard to leave him again so I hope it works out for you.

Sorry to hear ur situation Rehana...I also faced the interview on 27th and were approved at once... However, it seems US Embassy Dhaka is faster than before...AP waiting time for CR1 should be 2-3 weeks...don't be upset...since they said u r approved, that means u will be fine...

Savar was out of AP with in couple of weeks....

By the way... Were u sitting right beside me? Can u recognise me from my profile photo?

Hi rahana/sonia,

rahana sorry about that. Don't worry soon they will call you. This is not the first time that happen.

One question???

Did you guys had to submit police report! if yes, Is it to embassy or with ds-230 at NVC

Thanks.

NVC lets you send either scanned copy or originals of police report with DS230. If you send scanned copy to NVC, you will need to bring the original to embassy interview. If you sent original to NVC, then embassy will already have your original police report and they will return it to you during interview.

Rahanna- My feeling is they already decided to put your husband on AP before the interview, maybe he has a common name or something else. But since he passed the interview and they took his passport, that usually means the wait won't be too long. Good luck to you both and hope you can accompany him here.
