Yeah, I can't sleep. No rain here, it's as dry as a popcorn fart.

nagi..please....you leave me in stitches

Just another day over here.

The weather has been cooler but normal for this time of year.

? How many of you mothers would allow your 12 year old daughter to fly to Florida for a week with a friend and her family?

Not a best friend, not anyone's parents you know very well, just a friend?

My ex apparently said she could and now I look like I am the mean one and I don't want her to have any fun but it wracks my nerves to no end and I am sure if left solely up to me the answer would be NO!

Enjoy your day peeps.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I had a daughter and she was 12 there would be NOOOOOOOOO way she would go. Too much of a

risk to let her just up and go with "a friend". It's ok for you to be the meanie!!!! Good luck hon!!

Sandrila, I would definitely not let my daughter go, I'd tell her she'll have to wait for us to make a trip together and offer an amusement park asap as a consolation prize. And I'd try to talk with the ex to get him on the same page, if not, I'd pull my trump card and just be the meanie.

It would be different if you knew the parents very well and knew that their morals and methods were similar to your own, but other than that it's just not... gonna happen.

Just finished with my hubby.. it makes me sad but his dad is being a real... hard rock. He is not really speaking with my husband at this point, it's hard to figure out why he would waste the last days he has to spend quality time with his son for at least a year in a parental tantrum.

MsMariah, could it be that his Dad is jealous. I mean I don't know the situation but losing his son and him having a better life, I dunno know but my husband told me sooo many people were giving him the evil eye before he left at one point even his own family was making it harder on him, probably thinking he would never make it through...HA HA

HE DID !!!!

I told my husband before he started at this job how extremely lazy the other guards were. I worked there before him in Administration and well it didn't take him long to realize I was right. My husband will comment on him being the only one who cares about his job and works harder than the rest, but HE DOES!! I am proud of him for that and certainly the big boss already knows he has a reliable and upstanding man representing his company...too bad he is such a miser. My baby did get a promotion though.

All you girls waiting on your man.....I feel ya. Hang in there, it will soon all be a horrible dream from the past.

Actually at first I couldn't wait for hubby to work so I could breathe a little and get things done. You know "me" time.

Now that he works....I MISS MY HUSBAND! Our hours are so different and our "alone/quality" time is nill these last 3 1/2 months. So hubby here and I still don't see him much but I told him today, you know what...I know you are only a 20 minute drive away from me now, not $1,000 plane ticket and across the Atlantic.

Swine flu...they did say that something like 36,000 already die every year just from the normal flu.

It is scary and is spreading quite a bit. We have one in PA now.

But even scarier....I got it from the news....WHOOPING COUGH, 4 kids, in my own daughter's school.

I wonder if I should more worried about that  and who the heck gets that anymore?

Sandrila, I'm thinking yes, his dad is jealous but not OF him. He is jealous that his son wasn't happy with the life he made for him and wanted to leave at all. Also, jealous that he wasn't spending all the time there at his home.

Also, not sure about a better life. I think they are a bit worried about his religion when he leaves, as his dad used to always push him to pray, and while I too hope my husband submits faithfully to his religion, I think that it has to be his own heart or Allah that brings him to pray all five times. My husband says his father just doesn't understand him, but I can see how they are more alike than either would admit. But really, his father is SUPER strict and SUPER old school muslim guy. I say SUPER because it's definitely to a surprising degree even to other more 'liberal' family members who are still conservative practicing muslims. His father wanted to pick my husband a wife just like he did for his other 5 children. My hubby just never wanted that and it was being pressed for 5 years after the 5th was married and sent back to Gaza. His father has even stated that my husband is useless and told him he's not a man compared to his eldest brother. Ugh, I just wish they would come to peace with each other.

Ohh sorry if I was oversharing there.....:whistle:

Funny about the 'evil eye' thing, I think my husband is oblivious to the evil eye same as me. I just go about my days feeling happy or sad about what I've got and I'm happy if someone else gets something good for themselves so I never consider someone else would get all twisted up about wanting what I have. Why does it seem that this MENA culture lauds jealousy/envy so much!?!

Good morning and Happy Thursday MENA :)

Maybe I am in the minority here but Sandrila, I think I would at least have a sit down with the other parents and check it all out before I said a big no. maybe an hour spent with the parents would shed some light. I know I went on a couple of vacations with friends when I was in that age range and it was always a wonderful experience, I have also allowed my son to go on trips with other families. So I guess in my opinion maybe its worth doing a little checking on.....

I spoke too soon....it's not a popcorn fart anymore. It's raining.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Hey skeber and Sandra good to see you two posting!

I'm just waking up here. Tonight is my last class of the semester with next week being dead week and the week after that finals week. Not much left to do now. Just have to wrap up this apartment. I'm putting it all in storage since I'll be back in the fall for those last nine credits. I can't wait to walk in commencement this May still! Everyone should have my announcements already. I woke up this morning to a feeling of congratulations today! That was me sweet wish from the Universe.

This is VERY real over there ! I witnessed it in a few situations and it really freaked me out  It was very surprising coming from the men that called themselves "friends" then would viciously gossip, spread lies or try to sabotage the one leaving ! I was pretty naive initially to certain aspects in this culture, but when I began to open my eyes, WOW !!!

My husband's family started giving me those bracelets and necklaces meant to protect from the "evil eye" but ultimately they believed God would deal with these people. It was just very surprising and a little scarey to see what people resort to! like you said, why not just be happy for people and believe your own happiness will follow ?

I am wanting to research more about this "eye" as it's on our $$$ and such an ancient belief. It's intriguing !

Oh Henna Rose, I didn't know the 'eye' symbol had something to do with the 'evil eye' which is the common expression for jealous passive agressive or overt hating behavior over there. I watched bits and parts of this series called "the arrival(s)" which you can find on youtube which go into some of that 'eye' symbol that we have over the pyramid on our money. It is a sort of documentary which ties in a bunch of truths and evidences which.... added together come to rather startling 'doomsday' sort of conspiracy. There are like 40, 10 minute episodes so of course I haven't watched them all, but what I did see was definitely interesting and ... worrysome.

Some people say that the 'eye' symbol is for the Bilderburg group which some people believe are behind the federal reserve and actually are controlling the country and possibly the world. If you like to go down those paths then there is plenty of info all over the web about it. Better look it up sooner than later, before we go the way of China...
