I agree with you, alienlovechild. None of us should feel we have justify why we fell in love with someone, unless it's Charles Manson.

If you're looking for someone to obey you and be subservient of you, there are many women that fit that bill, and while some may be Filipina, it's crazy to think that all Filipina, all Asian, or all Women want to be the obedient serving wife. I can only imagine that there are some women who believe that their role is to be obedient and serving. I don't have to imagine that many men dream of it. Personally, I prefer a woman who is loyal instead of obedient, and is helpful to our common good, rather than serving.

I'll buy that and anyone who has dated or married a woman from Asia or other parts of the world will find that not every woman will conform to whatever the stereotype is. On the hand, I don't feel I have to go around and justify why I married a Filipina nor should anyone who married an American.

I half agree with you. I would wholly agree with you if you said, "I don't feel I have to go around and justify why I married MY WIFE". I've seen you post about your wife before, and I don't believe you think of her as "the Filipina I married". I'm guessing you think of her more as "the wonderful woman I married".

The fact that someone is Filipina, Asian, tall or short, is nothing more than a random circumstance of birth. It's not something they did. It's not something to be proud of or ashamed of. If someone is a good and loving person, THAT is something to be proud of, THAT is a reason to love someone, THAT is a reason to marry someone.

Of course, some of us are attracted to others because they're Filipina, Asian, tall or short...but I don't think that in itself is enough to sustain a real marriage.

Overtime, our appearance will change. For some of us, it may even change due to tragedy. If the only bond we have in a marriage is superficial, then you'll find out you don't have much.

Not all filipina makes a good wife.....I believe its the love that bind the couple matters most, not the race.

EXACTLY. To say that all Filipinas are good wives is as stupid as saying "only Filipinas are good wives".

Which reminds me....I have know few men in their older ages, with their early 20's filipina wives.

I asked myself, are all fillipinas listed prime-age-hubby as their preference?

Dang!!!!!!! maybe american who cant find (or shall I say "rejected"?) young and adorable wife in the west, fly down to The Philippines to look for wife?

Look at profiles on say Match.com and check out the profiles. Also look up male/female ratio. That should answer your question.

No you're thinking of Lady Braun, mustache model:

The Eva Braun is used strictly for shaving those hard to get at bikini areas. Does a remarkable landing strip, so I'm told!

I agree...but what happened here as it has many many times, is someone feels the need to justify or state their case about why they chose x spouse from x country. I personally find it embarrassing when many of these outbursts come from American men talking about Filipinas, but I think a lot of those attitudes are perpetuated by the websites that lure American men into seeking a Filipina Bride. It's all snake oil...and unfortunately, there's enough suckers buying it.

How did you meet your wife? How's the snake oil treatment coming along?

We didn't meet through any agency, but that's not what I'm calling the snake oil. The snake oil is the sales pitch that many of those agencies give, to entice American men. I'm not dogging anyone who met their spouse that way. I'm criticizing anyone who bought into any sales pitch by a dating agency.

EXACTLY. To say that all Filipinas are good wives is as stupid as saying "only Filipinas are good wives".

Few people could disagree with that statement but then again it was constructed to be so.

Perhaps the more telling and more probing question/ statement is; What is a wife?

Even today, in most parts of the world "wife and Husband" are not just part A and part B of a legal marriage, they are each, actually job descriptions too.

More and more in Western culture the Man & Wife roles are nearly interchangeable, I even heard a story of a woman who told her husband to stay with the kid while she checked out a prowler-type sound in the night.

It seems to me, the worst offenders of stereotyping of "traditional wives", comes from feminist concepts which reactively imply that "traditional" means; DOOR-MAT.

I think nothing could be farther from the truth, while there are plenty enough strong modern feminist type woman among us today, there are even more weak modern women as well (pathetically so).

Of all the old women I have known in my life, all seem stronger than the average woman of today.

I would suspect Marriages have always come in a variety, the concept that "men had all the family power" pre 1965 (or pick your date) is laughable. Women as a creature are not so easily tamed.

My main concern for the OP is his assumptions about some foreign woman are a direct path to K-1 disaster. (or worse)

It is true he might find a nice lady whose goal is to establish a strong family life, but with "eyes wide shut" he is shark bait for the many who know how to play him.

PS: the part about him taunting his wife with suggestions he might find a Philipine. wife seemed odd and diminishes his role as Victim a wee bit.
