Newbie needs some help in the right direction...

I hope I am posting this in the correct place. I have just started reading and learning here...

Long story short: My American wife of 10yrs decided to run off... I had always joked to her about how if she 'ran off' I would have to replace her with a 'Filipina' woman that would care for me properly... She KNEW this was a joke and it was very well understood that I had PLANNED to care for her until the day she died (no matter what) but... She ran off, I am seriously convinced that a Filipina woman can care for me properly and will have better family values, and I am bound and determined to take a trip and find myself a better wife from the Phillipines...

I read the following on here as well as elsewhere and I really do believe that it is true for the most part. I AM bound and determined here...

Yes, I really do believe that there are REAL differences between American and Filipinas. Sure, woman are woman, but Western woman are known to have big expectations in the $$ department. Asian ladies tend to view marriage as a "team effort" in terms of supporting a living. If there isnt enough income, they will help out. Many western woman will just divorce you. Plain and simple. I have been to the Philippines 5 times, and feel I have come to know filipinas quite well to see the difference.

On important decisions:

Westernized Woman: “You idiot. Why didn’t you do it my way?”

Filipina: “Up to you….” (This does not mean “up to you”. It means please tell me why you are doing this and then I will tell you how I feel.)

If this hypothetical woman became Westernized (as indicated by this guy's word choice), what was she before? Is being Westernized like being brainwashed or converted? It's important to examine word choice in these situations. We must know what this gal was up to before she became Westernized. Was she an anthropologist? A dentist? More research is needed.

The OP does not have a fiancee and is asking questions about whether a woman from a particular country would make a good wife for him. It's not a K1 topic, and frankly, this has been brought up time and again. I was merely expressing my exasperation, not judging the OP.

There is a REASON it is brought up time and again. And adding the "effing topic" constitutes an attitude, not moving it to where it belongs.

I wonder if you say the same thing when you move the 8 times daily question about question #2 on the I-134 from K-1 to Embassy and Consulates? Or do you reserve the "effing topic" for anything not complimentary to western women? I wonder what would happen to me if I responded "Oh, not this effing topic again" to the woman with a Canadian fiance asking about question 11 on the I-134 for the 10th time today? Would you send me a TOS warning Elm?

So, frankly, I would expect to see the same thinly veiled profanity from you directed at ANY topic which is brought up time and again. If so, then I will retract my opinion that indeed, you have an attitude!

Effing topic = Repeated trollish silliness designed to kick off 300+ posts (granted, some very funny) in a 12-hour period. Probably will get locked.

Amazingly enough, I was about to ask you the very same question!! ... given that you're the advice columnist and all, I though you could tell me how to become de-Westernized.

So far my best efforts have consisted of meeting the girl of my dreams in the ancient enchanted Kingdom of Siam and having 9 saffron robed Buddhist monks bless us with holy water while ceremonial thread was used to bind us together (a bit kinky, that last bit, no?)

It doesn't seem to have worked though - I find myself still westernized in the fleshpots of the Midwest eating way too much red meat and keeping up with the Joneses, who just moved into the foreclosed house next door. And my poor lass of the Orient is about to be corrupted by Herself becoming Westernized as soon as BKK embassy gets its @$$ in gear and sets a date for our d@mn interview!

Funny thing is that the last wife was a slob and a packrat. I had to clean up after her daily. Her 'piles' of junk were so bad that we would have to shift the piles on the dining table around before we could sit down to eat... The table was usually completely covered in junk. After she ran off, I finally got to toss out 5 broken vacuum cleaners that she had previously refused to throw away. I have always been responsible for cleaning out home properly. If I wanted it done at least halfway right, I HAD to do it myself...

Why in the heck did she feel the need to keep broken vaccums when we always had at least one that worked???

There is no problem in telling it like it is...it's a shame but it's true. US woman have an attitude. I personally have found that the woman here have evolved to be more like men...they have lost their femininity.

My recommendation - before I got married I dated a Latin woman from Colombia. I must tell you that I have never been treated so well. But like an idiot, I went for the well educated US woman....NEVER AGAIN!!!!
