Newbie needs some help in the right direction...

I hope I am posting this in the correct place. I have just started reading and learning here...

Long story short: My American wife of 10yrs decided to run off... I had always joked to her about how if she 'ran off' I would have to replace her with a 'Filipina' woman that would care for me properly... She KNEW this was a joke and it was very well understood that I had PLANNED to care for her until the day she died (no matter what) but... She ran off, I am seriously convinced that a Filipina woman can care for me properly and will have better family values, and I am bound and determined to take a trip and find myself a better wife from the Phillipines...

I read the following on here as well as elsewhere and I really do believe that it is true for the most part. I AM bound and determined here...

Yes, I really do believe that there are REAL differences between American and Filipinas. Sure, woman are woman, but Western woman are known to have big expectations in the $$ department. Asian ladies tend to view marriage as a "team effort" in terms of supporting a living. If there isnt enough income, they will help out. Many western woman will just divorce you. Plain and simple. I have been to the Philippines 5 times, and feel I have come to know filipinas quite well to see the difference.

On important decisions:

Westernized Woman: “You idiot. Why didn’t you do it my way?”

Filipina: “Up to you….” (This does not mean “up to you”. It means please tell me why you are doing this and then I will tell you how I feel.)

After receiving a gift:

Westernized Woman: Says “thanks” while instantly comparing it to the version owned by her most ostentatious friend.

Filipina: “Thanks, but you really didn’t need to do this.”

On Wednesday Night Sex:

Westernized Woman: “Touch me and I am calling the cops.”

Filipina: “Sure, why not.”

On Shopping:

Westernized Woman: “I just have to have that Vuitton purse/Tiffany bracelet/etc..”

Filipina: “I wonder if I can find a first-class copy.”

On Financial Setbacks:

Westernized Woman: “So what are you going to do about it.”

Filipina: “Maybe I can get some overtime to help out.”

On Exploded Home Appliance:

Westernized Woman: “I told you not to buy that cheap thing.”

Filipina: “………” Dead silence. The Filipina is hiding.

On Infidelity:

Westernized Woman: “I’ll find the nastiest divorce lawyer in Beverly Hills.”

Filipina: “The best way to keep a man away from other women is to be sure he is satisfied at home.”

Me: “I can’t cheat on her (if she is a Filipina). That woman is so good to me……..”

With all that now said... Can anyone point me towards some links for info, or give me any advice, or steer me towards a good book or website so that I can learn and prepare for what I am about to get into???

True, there are all types of women (and men) in the world. Some have "more traditional" views of marriage than others. And you can find the type of person you seem to be seeking in many corners of the US as well as the globe.

There is a Phillipines regional forum here on VJ. As good a place as any to start in your info quest.

OK, now I understand why so many men choose Philipino women, they are just like Ukrainian women, but shorter.

Look where you will, but do not rule out eastern European/FSU women.

Dude, you are likely gonna get a lot of flak from certain PC circles on this site. And no doubt a lot of guys are gonna agree with you.

I don't think you can generalize too much in this way. There are plenty of shallow , materialistic, egotistical people (men and women) in western countries, as well as in the Philippines and in all countries of the world. There are also plenty of loving, ethical, caring, hard working, compassionate and loving people (men and women) in western countries, as well as in the Philippines and all countries of the world. Choose what is right for you, there is no general formula for right and wrong in this department. If you choose to enter a relationship with someone and you then fall in love with that someone and want to marry that someone - great! But you are involved with that someone, not a country on the map.

I don't have any sisters-in-law to marry off, but my fiancee works at a hospital in Bangkok with plenty of eligible single staff many of whom have asked her if I 'have a friend' for them, LOL!

There is no problem in telling it like it is...it's a shame but it's true. US woman have an attitude. I personally have found that the woman here have evolved to be more like men...they have lost their femininity.

My recommendation - before I got married I dated a Latin woman from Colombia. I must tell you that I have never been treated so well. But like an idiot, I went for the well educated US woman....NEVER AGAIN!!!!
