Yeah, it was a meanspirited comment I admit, but it completely made my day.:lol::lol:

Hey! That one wasn't mean spirited! Really! someone else was meanspirited (not).

I mean, I *can* do mean, but I usually try not to. <g>

Looks like DF was right after all (doh).

I'm glad everyone else here is saying what I wanted to say all along....I figured if I said it I would get lambasted as being suspicious minded and negative!

Nope, you wouldn't be at all. I stayed out of it to only because I felt the same about it as others and figured my opinions were covered but I'm glad everyone spoke up. There's a BIG difference between being negative when it's a situation with two adults jumping in fast/a divorce or seperation or argument that we're only hearing one side of - but Stace is still a youth. After watching the Primetime thing on sexual predators and the internet I say for someone not to speak up would be the worse thing for this girl.

Honey, make him visit you first. Make it safe for yourself on your terrority with your friends and family. If he really cares, if he's legit and he wants to pursue an honest relationship with you he'll make it happen. And if he won't then he's not good enough for you anyway.

If that goes well remember take it nice and slow, go to university, travel - don't cut some of the best freedom years of your life short!

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

I agree Stace,

If you are serious about him, please have him arrange to visit you first, especially so your family can meet him and you can see how he behaves to your friends. If there are problems, then you will have someone to protect you. One of your comments did concern me - the statement that he has had some problems but is working them out. When you marry someone their problems become yours and you really need to decide if you want to deal with his problems too. Take your time. If this is real, it will last and a lifetime is a very long time - or should be. If it isn't real, then it is better to know now than later. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Has nobody asked her how old her boyfriend is? Alarms were going off in my head when I read her post.

I was wondering about his age as well. Stace: how old IS your boyfriend?

But nevermind how young you are and let's put aside how incredibly dangerous it is for young, underaged girls to travel alone to foreign countries to meet strange men they've only been in contact with for a handful of weeks ... even if you were much older, I would still think preparing to marry a man you've never actually met face-to-face, who you've only "known" for a tiny bit, is a bad idea. Also, as someone else said: you're 17-years-old; what's the rush to get married? I'm 22 and people ask me that all the time (and I have some good answers ;) ) and for once, I get to ask it! lol

Also - I've heard people here on VJ give similar advice to older people as well who come and ask about a K-1 for a fiance' they haven't yet met in the flesh. So believe me, it's not just your age that's the problem.

I wish you all the best though. If you decide to make the journey here and you're permitted entrance, I really hope you stay safe and that your boyfriend IS a good person who treats you well. (F)
