calling the ITIN number again today I asked about filing form 1040X and they told me I should not do that. O_O

really confused now as every time I call them I get a different solution, except the guy today told me to keep calling until I get someone who can actually help me. 'I'm not in that area, so call again and see if you can get someone in that area' but I called the ITIN number, shouldn't you know what you're supposed to do about this?

Yes, I've been there. They told me they couldn't help me either, that I could only get help by calling the ITIN number. The person we spoke to did say that we could file another return with my SSN but that it could have 'consequences'.

I guess if you filed a brand new return (not amended version) then eventually they would process both and refund you $2500 and $3100. Then you would be stuck calling around trying to find out how to give them back some money...and nobody would know how to do that either.

When I went to the Tax Prep office today a guy who worked there called the IRS on our behalf, and, I logged the persons name and ID because they told us to file again and if the ###### hits the fan I want to have someone in the IRS I can point at.

So, this time with my SSN we have e-filed a 1040X and if the e-filing is rejected cause of my SSN then we'll probably wait a couple of weeks and try again.
