Hey guys,

My fiance & I are getting our K1 stuff together. I know this has been discussed before, but I just want to make sure. I want to ask a couple questions to the Canadians out there:

As proof, we're including:

pics(dated) & showing US landmarks/signs

hotel receipts

flight itenerary when we met in Vegas(I flew alone, met him there)

Ambassador bridge toll receipts

bank statement(opened account in MI)

visa statement(purchases in MI)

I drive to the US, cause I'm close enough, so I don't have any other flight documents. Plus, the passport doesn't get stamped when you drive over, so I can't include that. What else do Canadians use?

Anything else? Or are we ok?

1 more question to anyone in Michigan: is the birth certificate normally issued enough? I'm hearing there's a long-form...do we need that?

Thank you in advance!!!

We weren't sure about birth certificate requirements either, so we did something else. The USC can photocopy every page of his/her US passport and use that as prof of American citizenship in the place of a birth certificate.

As far as evidence goes, I think you have plenty. With our petition we included 5 photos that were mainly in nondescript locations, a couple months worth of phone bills to show ongoing communication, and we submitted flight itineraries showing multiple trips to each other. We use the Buffalo Int'l Airport, since its so close to where I live, so we have no passport stamps either. But that's it! I think the bridge receipts prove you crossed, the pictures prove you were together (as do the hotel receipts), but I'm not sure the bank statements really do much. Then again, It doesn't hurt to have more information then not enough!

I included copies of the engagement ring bill of sale, engagement congratulations cards, and a "thanks for visiting" letter for a church we attended during a visit. (When you fill out the guest registry some churches send you a letter. Who knew? Came in handy, though. )

They don't really put Canadians through the ringer with bona fide evidence since it's pretty easy for us to come and go. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you.

We sent about 20 photos, phone bills, our cruise receipts showing us together in the same room, boarding passes and itineraries. I think we probably sent too much stuff, but we had been dating for 5 years, so we wanted to show a range of information from a wide range of dates.

You've definitely got more than enough :) I just send a copy of my birth certificate card as well as my passport and it worked out well. I didn't have any information from the border or anything, just a lot of pictures at family functions and from the clubbing strip in Windsor Lol. Good luck, you'll be a Michigander in no time :)

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

Okay, I totally had a dyslexic moment and read that as "stripping club". Could you imagine if you sent them pictures from a strip club?

Lol The real question would be if this would help or hinder my wife's case I'd say :)
