Hello, i`m new here. I am really happy to find this forum, and am reading lots of great info. I am applying for a K1 visa to the US so I can be with a most wonderful man that I met in Colorado. I found this site by googling for info on passport book numbers. Filling out the forms using just website info has been confusing, and I now have hope after reading here that this can be done. I was having my doubts. I don`t know why the process has to be so long and difficult. I now have hope I will actually make it through this nightmare!

The woods are lovely, dark and deep; But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep...

A good place to begin is here:

Welcome aboard!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thank you so much!! I can`t tell you how wonderful it is to see things simplified like this flow chart is! I have felt like I was walking blindfolded on the edge of a cliff until now. One mis step and oops, there goes my future....

I`m from Canada, btw. I didn`t include that in my intro...

Welcome to VJ and I hope your process is swift and painless :)

Everyone is nervous when they start this crazy journey, but the info found here is so helpful. And you might even make some good friends along the way!

Good Luck

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks again for the welcomes!

Can someone point me in the direction of a thread(s) about the K1 VISA interview, what to expect, how to compile proof of relationship, etc? I can`t seem to find one.

Well, you probably want to explore the Canada regional forum, which has many threads about such matters specific to Canadian filers. For example, did you know that K1s are processed only in Montreal and Vancouver (not Toronto), based upon whether you are east or west of Manitoba.

Have a look at the Wiki page:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada

and the regional forum:

Good luck!

[edit: Ah, I see you are from Nova Scotia. Montreal it will be for you, then!]

Welcome and good luck. Yeah, it's overwhelming at first but VJ is a great resource.

Don't forget to read through the K1 guides for more information. Another great resource you can get at your library (or maybe your SO can) is the NOLO Guide to Fiance & Marriage Visas. It's step by step and takes you all the way through AOS, removing conditions, and even naturalization.

Good luck!
