Hi All,

How do you bring back a wedding woods pictures size (24 x 36 x 1) from VN back to states? Can you carry on? Or do you have to pay extra money or do airline count it at one luggage since it’s big and bulky.

Thanks in advances.

I got our's packaged then checked them as a bag. That was 3 years ago, so I didn't get charged for an extra bag.

I am not if this is a good advice. Since the picture is big you roll it up and put the elastic band around it and put it in one of the roller holder. YOu can just carry it with you on flight. I don't think they will charge anything.

Lucky has the best suggestion. Leave that as a memento for the family in VN and bring a print with you, or have a print made in the US and have in mounted in a similar fashion.

That is way too large for carry-on these days. Package it up and see what it will cost as extra checked luggage vs. sending FedEx/UPS/slow boat mail is the other option.

We had 7 pictures printed onto something like 24 x 30" posters. They have bamboo "framing" on top and on the bottom with a chain to hang them. They look like scrolls when rolled up. I think these cost about 300,000 VD each.

We rolled them up and put them into a bag with a handle. I took them on as carry-on and they hung it up for me in the coat rack so I didn't have to think about them during the whole flight.

They also gave us the digital copies, though they were originally reluctant to do so. So now we can make posters here, too. =)

We gave the picture with the wooden backing to my wife's family in Vietnam and had large, rollable pictures printed up and brought them on as carry-on.

Thank you for your response. The reason why we want to bring it back to state is because we are planning to have our wedding by the end of this year. And, we would like to post it for our wedding ceremony at the restaurant. Since it costs a fortune to bring it back, and we will have to come up with plan B, get the rolled up.

OHHH MY GOD! After reading your question, I was like "wowww". Oh U DIDN'T KNOW?...

All I gotta say is, you got the best price overthere. Try to get as many of your wedding pictures in vietnam as you can. For that kind of big print, It cost hundreds. Over there is like $20-$40 max. Some place even do better than that price. Ask the place where you guys got your pictures taken. Good luck. Do it in Vietnam if you have to. It's a good idea to have in in the USB but that's just for your reference and print out 4x6 but for such big prints, it costs you a fortune.

HOpe this help your decision on what to do.

I chose option 1 and forget about the rest

We were all newly wedded once, it was an exciting and mind-blowing experience for us. Honestly we didn't know what we were doing most of the time, as a couple, from purchasing merchandise, to paying for extra services which we didn't really need (option 2 and 3) since we were very emotional and tried to please each other so much and it wasn't seemed to be a big deal.

I know folks who got those gigantic photos in wooden frames brought back to the states and still in the back of their closets collecting dust, simply, as awesome as it looks at the studio or when you look at them at her house in VN... those pictures don't fit in any style of decor or seem overwhelmed in your home in the US. Someone back me up on this one please! The word best describes them: very Sến or Cải Lương! (cheesy if not corny)! No offense to anyone if that's your taste, it was once, until we bring them home, here in the US then you realize, what the heck were you thinking during that photo session.

For OP, get someone to box it up good, pay extra and check it through all the way to your final destination. I would rather have the prints done in VN and roll them up, get it framed here in the US. Cost more, but you would be mad if you lose those frames or risk get them punctured during transit.

Good luck and do share your photos here with us. I always love to see wedding pictures, especially Vietnamese VJ members.

Thanks, For all of US as a husbands. We tend to please our lady. whatever she wants, since it's always is her wedding not our wedding. *WINKS* hihihihi The wooden frame picture came with a GIFTS, once we took the pictures at the studio in VN. Free of charge. SURE, WHATEVER. We pay almost 1000 US dollar for the whole packages, from NGOAI CANH, studios, pictures and video in the morning and restaurant, outfits for me and my wife, and etc.

Mine vo/ba-xa/wife/Chi2/ba-chu really really wants to bring the wooden frame picture here in US for our wedding, and she really wants to show to my family how our wedding picture look like. For me, I just want to please her, whatever I think is right for me to do. Maybe, it's always better to reprint the picture here from the state, rather than carry a gigantic pictures from vn.

Thank you all for your inputs.
