I just thought I'd share with our VJ family that we had his green card interview yesterday. It seemed to go just fine. I'll post details in the AOS section, but wanted to let everyone know that it went smoothly and we expect the card soon.

Met on internet 6/04. Married at court house in Aba, Nigeria 12/04. 3/05 traditional ceremony in Nigeria w/ my picture. 12/05 finally together again. 4/06 ceremony/celebration in the states together

8-27-05 - rec'd I-864 bill and DS-230 form

8-30-05 - sent I-864 bill in overnight

9-16-05 - rec'd I-864 pack

9-19-05 - rec'd DS-230 fee bill

1-23-06 - NVC rec'd DS-230 pack, the waiting begins.

2-7-06 - called NVC, case completed on 1-26-06, thank you lord, NVC stated waiting on confirmation from lagos regarding interview date.

9-13-06 - called NVC, they stated case was forwarded to Lagos on Sept. 11th and Dans interview is Oct. 19, 2006. Thank you dear lord.

10-19-06 - Dan had his interview and was approved. Will pick up visa on Wed. My king is finally coming home. Visa wasn't ready, had to go back on Mon. Oct. 30th to pick it up. Has it in hand.

11-17-06 - Dan arrives at Detroit Metro Airport at 11:00 a.m. This is one happy day for us.

11-25-06 - Dan receives his social security card.

12-06 - Dan receives 3 welcome letters and his green card shortly afterwards.

Yeah, I am looking forward to a break, but you know what, I don't think there will be much of a break. She said that you can apply 3 months before your 2 year anniversary. That is in just 3 months that we can apply so It will be almost like no break at all. I just can't wait until the 10 year when we will be free from keeping everything and worrying about how we do everything. Being free of the government will be nice (well, we'll never be free, but we can pretend at least).

What do u mean 3 months b4 ur second anniversary and u stated that is within the next 3months. Im no expert here, but I think that when the CO said 3 months b4 ur second anniversary, it meant to have the I-751 sent (lift conditions) at least 90 days before the day you got ur AOS approval. I think you said you got married in 12/04. If you would have filed your AOS after 12/06; you would have met the 2 year marriage rule and your hubby could have received the 10yr green card. Anyway, congrats to you both.

Just to add:

If you got approved for AOS on June 26, 2006; that means you have until March 26, 2008 to file I-751(lift conditions) for 10yr green card. Actually, the paper work has to be received by March 26, 2008 (which is 90days b4 2nd anniversary of green card approval).
