As one of the aforementioned autistic types myself, I find the whole debate about vaccines vs genetics vs god-knows-what-this-week to be pointless and frequently offensive. One only has to look at the male side of my family and that of other autistic people to see that it's a genetic 'condition' that predominantly (but by no means always) runs down the male side of families.

As for Jenny McCarthy and her damn stupid and offensive "vaccines-stole-my-child-but-it's-OK-coz-I-fixed-him" shite, well the sooner someone shuts her up the better. All she's done with her kid is teach him to 'act normal'. It's been done before, thousands of times to autistic kids and the eventual result is always, always the same: mental breakdown, rediscovery of true 'identity' and resentment towards the 'curer' in late childhood or early adulthood. Nobody, autistic or otherwise can live a lie forever. Sooner or later, the house of cards will come crashing down. The videos of 'cured' children that I believe you can still find on YouTube, et al, are some of the saddest things I've ever seen

Anyway, if you want to cure autism, it's dead easy. Just remove all sources of di-hydrogen monoxide from the autistic's diet and environment. I guarantee they'll be cured in about 3 days.

My sister's son is autistic and they have quite a struggle with him. He's 7, and recently got kicked out of before & after day care because they could no longer handle him. Oddly enough, they decided they could no longer handle him after my sister told them of his definitive diagnosis of Aspberger's Syndrome He's been at this same dang day care since before he was 1 year old, they've known all these years that he's autistic, and yet somehow a putting a name of a specific type of autism on him sent them spinning and they can't handle him anymore. oi I tell ya, if I still lived up there, they'd be seeing me in there! His regular school got him a full time tutor who minds him all day. They get on great.

He's a good kid. I don't get many hugs from him when I visit, and he won't talk on the phone when I call, but he's a good kid, and he tries. Which is more than we can say for a lot of people in his life unfortunately.

I know another autistic boy whose family had him on an all natural, whole foods diet (nothing packaged) and he did quite well. He wasn't "cured" by any means, but he was more able to socialise and integrate after about a year or so. It takes a good long while. A natural whole foods diet can also work well for kids with ADD and ADHD. But most doctors just tell you to drug your kid instead.

I'm not surprised! Oxytocin makes everyone feel gooooooood... AFAIK, it's the hormone responsible for 'post coital bliss', isn't it?!

I'm not surprised! Oxytocin makes everyone feel gooooooood... AFAIK, it's the hormone responsible for 'post coital bliss', isn't it?!

It's an amazing hormone...seems to effect a lot of things in the body. It's worth checking out this article on adults with autism and oxytocin.
