you ask around your platoon, i'm sure half the guys there have been divorced. the other half never married. it's a fact of life, son. you can't leave a woman that young by herself that long without things going sour.

buck up. it gets better.

Holy cow.... of course, because all young women are dimwits who cannot contain their sexual urges....

:bonk: Well, some women can't be left alone.. Same goes for men too!

We would call them "WestPac widows" at the clubs around the base, meaning, as soon as the guy went out to West Pacific deployment, most of the married women would suddenly become "widows" and hook up with some slob...

But seriously, one of the reasons I didn't get married while in the service was because of the deployments, and time away from the loved one.

I saw to many marriages hit the rocks, one guy even had his wife mail the divorce papers while we were on a deployement.

He came back to the apartment, and everything was gone.... :help:

But it's all better now, no more deployments for me... :hehe:

I had returned here in order to gain "living information" that i could not get from the immigration site.

I am not looking to divorce, but I believe that she is planning some papers ready for me when I arrive from deployment.

My wife has given me mixed signals. I do not know what to think or to do. I am just preparing for the worst,

as I hope for the best.

Thank you one and all for your information.

Ok, this sounds a little different from your original post. There it seemed like you were deciding between working on the marriage and just divorcing her. Now it seems that you want to work on the marriage, but you're getting the feeling that SHE wants a divorce. Is that right? Just want to clarify.

Well, I agree with the person who mentioned talking to the chaplain. Maybe he will have some advice on how to make your wife feel loved while you're far away. I was never sent away (just basic training for Reserves), but that was back in the 80s, too - no internet or cell phones. I'm not sure what the opportunities for contact with loved ones are like now. I also don't know how long you've been away from each other, if you can go visit her, where you are and if she could visit you.... Those are things to look into, though.

I hope you can have some good conversations with her, and see what you can do about working things out. If she cares about you, she'll also want to fix things, too.

Best of luck

even if you are divorced from her, you will still be financially responsible for her until she either becomes a US citizen or she completes 40 quarters of work (roughly 10 years).

with you being in the military it will be easy to get a wage garnishment on you.
