No you can file for K3 and your SO can come to the U.S. while waiting for the visa to be approved, I bet there will be a lot more K3's now.

13 February 2009- Mailed I-129F to VSC

17 February 2009- Packet received and signed for by VSC(A. Stanley)

23 February 2009- Check cashed, finally(and away we go)

23 February 2009 - NOA1(dated February 18th)

22 March 2009- Notice of approval NOA2

4,5May 2009- Medical (Passed, 1 more hurdle)

20 May 2009- Interview (PASSED, GOT THAT PINK SLIP)

25 May 2009- CFO

05 OCT 2009- Flight to El Paso, TX

30 OCT 2009-wedding

02 JAN 2010-filed AOS

04 JAN 2010-signed for at 8:52 by CHYBA

01 FEB 2010-Biomerics appointment

where did u get that info? you cant bring your SO to the US if she/he doesnt have a VISA IN HAND

This is saying you can come to USA while waiting for your CR-1 approval by using a K3 which is exactly what we are doing now, there is no change you still have to wait for K3

OOh well I guess its not that new if it has been out since August 08, so why arent more people doing it?

In my situation, leaving for the US before her 18th birthday, the K1 just made more sense than a K3 (which I heard takes about the same amount of time to get the visa). If not for that, I would have rather stayed in the Philippines, married, and then immigrated together with a CR1.
