Can I apply driving license by recipt of I485

I was wondering if I can apply a driving license with the reciept or I have to do that untill the EAD recieved.

I was using my chinese driving license, but my B1 status was about expired in few days so that I will be no longer to use it legally.I was always

be scared while my wife was driving she is not a good driver yet.

I was thinking to find out this question with a DMV agency, but there is always long line and long waiting time

Anyone here with expenrience could you pls give me advice? thanks a lot and have good one

it depends what state you are in. Usually if someone has driving license from another country, that can be as good with proof that your paperwork is in process.

In TN, they required at the least the EAD.

In California you have to wait until you actually have your EAD in hand in order to get a California DL.

ARe you driving? You can get in BIG trouble for driving without licenses.

So I have to be driving with 200% attention before the EAD

Yes,I'm driving. It was confirmed by DMV that a touristor visa holder is able to drive in carlifornia with their valid driving license from original country.

This will be expired while the touristor status expires.

DMV will give you a DL in California with the NOA and a non-expired I-94.

Print this page out and take it to the DMV with you. If they give you a had time ask for a supervisor.

GO AHEAD AND TRY TO APPLY FOR DL....TRY DIFFERENT PLACES IN CA....MAKE SURE U GOT UR RECEIPT....I DID IN TX ONE PLACE THEY TOLD ME NO WENT TO ANOTHER PLACE WAS EASY....SO GOT MINE EXP 2015 THEY PUT CONDITION UNTIL U GOT UR STAFF GOING BACK TO REMOVE CONDITION...

I am in New York and they didn't take my application on the I-485 Receipt and EAD card. Since here it is a requirement to show the Actual SSN Card. I had to wait till i received it in mail and then applied for the License. There are states that arent so strict in rules. Maybe Cali is one of them.
