Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter will switch his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat and announced today that he will run in 2010 as a Democrat, according to a statement he released this morning.

...

"I have decided to run for re-election in 2010 in the Democratic primary," said Specter in a statement. "I am ready, willing and anxious to take on all comers and have my candidacy for re-election determined in a general election."

He added: "Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right. Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans."

Should have been done years ago, we're in the 21st Century and America as of yet cannot offer healthcare to all of its people. Looks like that is going to change finally, long overdue.

There will be no socialist Euro style health care it is not going to happen and Ovomit is not going to deliver it, too many lobbyist he is in bed with and too many funding problems now after over spending several Trillion he has.

As for Specter, what a self centered man, like he cares about Democrats anymore then Republicans, it is all about self-preservation in the Senate and keeping his job, he could care less about you or me or any party, this guy is all about himself just like each politician is from each party.

Democrats on here clamoring around and jumping up and down and on the Ovomit rainbow train should take a look back in history, for it repeats itself, seems like just only 8 years ago there was a Republican president and Congress that was going to change the world and country for the better and alas 8 years later look where we are, and then 16 years before that and 24 years before that, it never changes at all, just the names change of the players the game stays the same and nothing gets done for any citizens that neeed it. Same old dance just a different tune they are dancing to. Open your eyes nothing is going to be done.

Great, a one party system. Just what the US needs. Be grateful that the two parties are actually different as opposed to the UK where I can't tell the difference between the major parties.
