Just a quick question.

DS-230 indicated that the system will apply the SSN on behalf of the recipient upon receiving visa approval. We plan to travel soon.

Do we need to go to the Social Security Office again in order to apply the SSN or the SSA will send the card to my wife automatically, because we listed the information in DS-230?

For the persons who arrived with CR1/IR1, please let us know by posting here. Thank you.

that is how it is suppose to work... many instances it does... occasionally it does not... if it does not arrive within 30 days then go visit

YMMV

It didn't work for us but as soon as we received my husband's green card we went in person to the SSA office to get his SSN. Just give the USCIS a few weeks for them to enter your wife's info in the system first, if it's not in the system the SSA will not be able to issue anything for her.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Does the same apply with the submission of the DS-230 for a K1 Visa? Should we just receive the SS card in the mail?

Timeline complete and up to date! Check it out!

Only immigrant visa can have the SSN sent to them in the mail as soon as they arrive. K1 is not an immigrant visa it is a non-immigrant visa, so you have to apply for a SSN once you are here.

no, in addition, most consulates only use the DS-230 Part I... the SSN part is on Part II.

YMMV

Enumeration at Entry is only for people age 18 or older that have been issued an immigrant visa and all K classifications of visas are non immigrant visas
