hi everyone, my birth certificate is late registered, I have read that during the K1 interview i will be ask for a baptismal certificate as a proof of identity, I don't have a baptismal certificate during birth but I was baptized in a different religion when i married my ex husband. Will they consider that as proof and of course i have other proofs to show like, school records, ID's, voter's ID, certificate of employment, my GSIS policy contract and some other proof bearing my name and birth of date. Will those be enough? You answers will be highly appreciated..

Acceptable secondary evidence of birth

Following are examples of secondary evidence of birth (which should also include your name, date and place of birth; names of both parents; and the seal of the issuing office): a baptismal certificate, an adoption decree, a school record, a notarized affidavit from a close relative (a parent, a close relative, a neighbor or friend who was present at the time of your birth) notarized. The person making this affidavit must state how he/she knows your family and how he/she knows the facts of your birth.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

HI! Ako din late na-register ang birth certificate as in late. Nakalagay sa birth certificate ko 16 years old na ako na-register. Hindi naman ako hinanapan ng baptismal certificate. The consul did ask about the late registration. My answer was, "My parents got married when I was 16 years old and that was the time they decided to register all their children's birth certificate." Hindi na rin ako hinanapan ng mga secondary ID. Hindi naman ako nagkaproblema sa visa. Na-delay lang ng 8 days.

Hokey Smoke!

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

Uhmmm.. baptismal cert if not a must. You can just say... you're not catholic ergo no baptismal cert.

I have a protestant friend who will not hold any baptism for her baby... so I don't think this is a biggie so long as you have school records and other proofs.

Not needed.  Nor will the embassy want it even if you did bring it.

You should start a new topic with your questions, this topic is almost 8 years old (always surprises me these old threads are still active)
