Hi all!

Just curious to know if anyone knows what the usual wait for an interview date is between packet3 being sent and the actual date of the interview. We sent ours off on the 30th march and still nothing, that's 4 weeks tomorrow! Is that normal or should we start getting concerned? We phone the DOS everyday, and we know they have all our documents and my medical report too. I suppose the impatience has a lot do do with the fact we have been waiting for almost 9 months now, since we received our NOA1! We are a little pissed I suppose at just how ridiculously unfair this system is! This definitely isn't a 1st come 1st serve system at all!

Right, a bit of venting always seems to make me feel just that much better! Thanks for reading and any comments are much appreciated!

Thanks Jon.

I had to wait a few weeks, I would keep calling DOS

however it also depends on what date you put for leaving the UK, if you put a date that is far off you tend to wait a bit longer than those who had a earlier planned leave date

Hope you hear soon

I think that was it, i put down our wedding day, the 11th July but not a date for travel! Which is what I'm kicking myself about now!! Krysti says we should email them to ask for an earlier date if possible as all her family are gathering for Memorial day and it would be great if I could be there. Does anyone know if that is advisable, and if they would actually take this into consideration?

thanks Jon

I had to wait about a month. I put down my wedding date as the 3rd July, and said I was planning to travel in May.

I also wrote a cover letter and asked for an interview in April if it was at all possible. My interview was last Friday.

Keep hanging in there!

Ours took a month.. sent off packet 3 on March 19th and didn't get an interview date until April 17th.

I know it's worrying but you'll be fine.. we put June as our travel date, and they still gave us a quick date.

I wouldn't worry too much. Easier said than done, I know. It seems like it takes forever, but the time will go by very quickly!

When we were waiting for packet 4, I think the people at the DOS thought I was crazy I would call so much (actually, they were really nice and understanding).

Ah, the Hawkeyes! They're my adopted team!!! Krysti is from Iowa too! Been trying to convince her that cricket is a fantastic sport, she says she'll go watch a game when we go visit back home in South Africa....got to make sure it's not a 5 day game!!

Anyway, we both phone the DOS everyday, and Yes sometimes(like today.) more than once! They are very friendly and as helpful as they can possibly be! Much better than the USCIS, because I can actually talk to them!

I do know this will eventually end, it just doesn't seem like it will sometimes!

I agree I found DOS great on the telephone. They told me my interview date before I got packet 4 which was very helpful as the Royal Mail was on strike at the time and I was worried over not getting packet 4 etc. I was also able to book my hotel and train tickets and get everything planned.

Does anyone know what they actually DO with the packet 3 papers? Are the more checks performed or do they simply ensure they're filled out and correspond with the info sent from USCIS/NVC?

This is more curiosity than anything else. It seems the more I try to understand this process the more vague and undiscribable it gets.
