I'll join. =)

Believe it or not, the first tagalog word that my hubby learned from me was "Mabantot ikaw"

Someone from our neighborhood was frying a dried fish and he asked what was that smell. And I said it's a dried fish.

I translated it to tagalog.. to "mabantot na isda".... and unnoticeable, he asked me what's tagalog of "you". I translated it to "Ikaw"... and Gosh! tawagin ba naman ako ng...

"MABANTOT KA!".. naloka ako. hahaha.

HAHAHAHA

First Tagalog he knew was "Mano po". I hope he still knew it. Good thing about learning the language, he teach our dog to learn the Tagalog. Our dog knows more Tagalog than he is.

Our dog knows "upo" , "dapa" and "sandali".

Hubby sometimes forget upo and says upa (upo and dapa) hahahaha

hehehehe like my hubby first word he learn was Mano Po :)

It's hard to teach him tagalog because he always change the words :bonk: hehehe his tongue is twisted whenever he try to speak tagalog

Ok..I was wrong.. the first tagalog word/phrase that my hubby learnd was "SALAMAT" (SALEMAT) HAHAHA!

And..the 1st waray (of course my dialect) he learnd was "WARAY". Lagi nya kasing naririnig yung word na "waray" and he was curious to know what does that mean, like why we called ourselves WARAY instead of visayan...so i explained it to him...later...he heard my 1 year old nephew asking for PISO "tagi piso" (give me a peso) and asawa ko asked me to translate it to him...from then on, everytime he saw the boy he would tease him and say "tagi mil" which means give me a thousand. Lol. Liltte by little, I am teaching him to learn the language...And, kapag alam na niya yung word sasabihin nya ng paulit-ulit specially when its a nasty/funny ones. But, sometimes asawa ko would complain coz too many letters/words/syllables. Lol. Makes him confused. Lol. And it makes me laugh when everytime he try to speak the language coz he says it with accent, so cute!

Sali din...

My husband first learned "Mahal Kita" and when he says "Salamat" the clerks will all smile at him...he got that down correctly. He forgets a lot of the words i teach him especially numbers so i will have to teach him that later when we are together. The things he still remembers are "po", "opo", "gwapo", "maganda" and the nasty ones are "utot " and "ipis"....hahaha

I love this thread. The first phrase he learned was of course Mahal kita. Then he asked me one day what is the Tagalog translation for baby, next thing I heard from him was Mahal kita sanggol (I love you baby!). Now he is really getting good at it. He would say Ako punta kubeta tae, everytime he wants to poop. Ikaw masama babae everytime I am being naughty. And this is my favorite, Mahal kita ng buong puso ko sanggol (I love you with all my heart Baby) and I hear it everynight before I go to sleep.

My hubby's first tagalog words are: Iniibig kita, Gwapo & Ganda (tawagan namin sa isa't-isa), Oo, Hindi, Pwet, Baho, Manok, Isda and Salamat, Nanay, tatay, ate, kuya, bata, lolo, lola, tito and tita.

The last food he asked me to make for him was, BING BING BOING Cake.. naloka ako kung ano yun.. then he told me when we had it and then i remembered he was talking about BIBINGKA. So now, we call Bibingka as Bing Bing Boing Cake.

Gusto ko Bangus for my Noodle

Gusto nya ng Bangus? hehe

ayoko nun...matinik....nung natinik ako lahat na ata ginawa ko....from saging, tapos yung inom ng tubig na sobrang dami at pati yung pusa ginawa ko na...hehe

Hay naku, gustong gusto kasi sa Asian store mabibili mo daing, fillet or relyeno na kaya favorite nya raw milkfish. Tignan natin pagdating nya sa June, makikita nya na puro tinik ang bangus dito.

My husbands favorite is inihaw na bangus.... he even brought a daing na bangus here in the US the second time he went to the phils.

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.
