I filed my I-130 last November. It got transferred from the East Coast to Calif for processing. I just returned from visiting my wife in Thailand and have a notice that processing has been finished and my I-130 was transferred to Homeland Security in Charlotte, NC for interview but my wife lives in Thailand and is not in the States. Anyone know if this is a mistake or what?? Thanks.

Your profile says you filed for a K1 fiance visa. Is that correct? Or did you file the K3/CR1? K1 fiance visa doesn't apply if you are married to your wife. We need some more info.

That's odd. Sounds like a call to the Charlotte office is in order. Any problems with the K1 process where someone would want to interview you?

Hope it's just a blip and not a bump in the road.

(btw your "Filed for" still says K1)

No reason that I know of to interview me. I had all my papers very well organized and I can't imagine there is anything they would want before her interview in Bangkok. It's baffling to me why they would send it to Charlotte. It just says they will notify me when they schedule an interview on the application or petition and any further inquiries should be made to that office. Problem is there is no phone number listed online or on the form to contact them, only the national customer service number.

It almost seems like they have it in their head that she is here now and you are applying for Adjustment of Status. I would try to get an infopass appointment in Charlotte.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

If you want meaningful answers post exactly what the notice says, not your interpretation of it. Also, if you only filed an I-130 petition, this is not a K3 case. It would be a CR1 case.

There was a similar case not too long ago where the petitioner was scheduled for an interview at their local office. Thats not helpful, because I forgot what the reason or outcome was. But, it has happened to someone else.

Anyway, as someone else said, make an infopass appointment and find out what they need from you.

Good Luck

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
