Ok, well Ed finally got his visa last week on the 21st, but it was not easy at all. He said his appointment was at 1pm.

He got there at 1, and by the way, the embassy is being renovated, so all interviews are being taken place in a tent outside, lil tid bit. He said it was full. People were being called and bla bla, he was like one of the last to hear his name. The first person he saw he said was a Romanian woman, who was real mean :) She looked at all of his papers and then told him to go sit down. He waited 30 minutes and was called again by the same woman. She told him none of the papers were good and there was nothing she could do for him. He informed her that I (the USC) had called up there 2 weeks earlier and asked EVERYTHING he needed for the interview, what originals, what copies and so forth, and what she had is what they said he needed. She said ok, and to go wait again. He waited another 30 minutes and she called him up again. She then told him the affidavit of support was wrong, that it wasnt an updated one. He informed her that i had called and asked about that as well, and was told that as long as there was one already attached to the petition, there was no need for me to send a new one for the interview. She said ok, and told him to go wait again. He waited another 30 minutes and an American lady called him up, she went through the papers with him, asked him questions about our pictures, our son, my daughter, how we met, how many times i was in Romania, bla bla. He answered all. She then asked about our Romanian marriage cert. For those who do not know the story, short version is, we got married in Romania, me under the assumption with papers that my divorce was final for 10 years, coming back to US finding out it was never legally final, therefore making our Romanian marriage invalid. So she asked him why he did not have the original marriage cert. He told her this was for a K1 visa not a K3, there was no reason to have the original, we only submitted the cert for proof of relationship. She asked him if he had ended the marriage in Romania. He said well yea, it was ended when my fiance found out her lawyer from 10 years ago screwed up and her divorse wasnt legal. She asked him if he himself ended the marriage. he said he went to the mayors office, told them the situation and they said OK. She asked if he had documentation, he said no. She said there was nothing they could do for him as far as issuing a visa. He again made his statement about talking to the mayor of the city we were married. She said OK, go sit down. He waited again some time, was called again to pay his $100, and then fingerprinting. He was called again by the American woman, he said she went through the papers again, handed him his passport with the visa printed on it, and welcomed him to the US.

Yes there were a few times he thought he was gonna poo in his pants :)

He said they were all very mean up there, maybe it was just that day i dunno, but he did it, i knew he would. And he will be here next week :)

Congratulations Ionescu!

I don't know what the point of it is exactly but it seems at Bucharest they really like to tell people there is no way they're gonna get a visa, even when they are actually going to give it.

I'm so glad it worked out for you!

Thanks everyone :)

It really is sad that they act that way. Ed said there was a mother there who was waiting for her interview and her 9 year old daughters interview (the moms husband is here in US) so they can reunited with husband/father. Anyway Ed said they denied the 9 year old daughters visa because she didnt speak much english, but granted the mothers. The mother explained there was nowhere she could or would want to leave her daughter in Romania so she herself turned down her visa and left empty handed :(

i find that a bit harsh.
