Another question I have in regards to assets.

I would like to include my assets, if at all possible, as I COULD have a decent sum to include. "COULD"

I lent my parents 50,000 a couple of years ago so they could move into their new home, where they want to be. They will give it back to me as soon as they sell their old home, which is currently on the market.

Could I include that 50,000 as part of my assets, even though it isn't in an account. wouldn't it be treated like a bundle under the mattress or would I need a letter from my parents stating that they have my cash. I'd hate my wife to get denied because of a shortage of funds and being self employed when I earn and have more then enough to qualify.

I couldn't even ask them to cosign me because they are retired and in their mid 70's.

NO, in order to use an asset, you need documentation that you have it and can liquidate it if you need the CASH to support the prospective immigrant.

Income is better than assets to document and note on the affidavit of support.

thanks for the quick responce. Thats kinda what my gut has been telling me.

I would prefer a CR1 for my wife but would go for the K3 if it comes quicker. So at the moment we're open for either---whichever comes first.
