Hi all,

As my time for an expected NOA2 is comming up (Just over 6 month's for I130 and almost 6 month's for !129f), I am in the process of getting my papers in order.

It state's that I need a letter from my employer. What if I'm a self employed independent contractor. I work on sportfishing boats. It's been six month since I've had a regular ride but I've been "free lancing" since. Up until now I've made about 10,000 this year, with only about 6500 going into the bank. My current estimate for the year will put me at about 30,000 for the year. Less then my last 3 years of NET 35,000---42,000, but still above what is needed for me and my wife. On my Tax forms I have always stated self employed, however, last year one opperation did put me on payroll and gave me a W2 this year.

My question is how can they prove my earnings by me being self employed. I only deposit in the bank when I have a excess which is almost unheard of in these times. I feel I'll have 2 or 3 thousand more to deposit into my bank by the time I need to mail anything in.

Any ideas,

Thanks,

Wayne

30K is more than enough to sponsor an immigrant it is well above 125% poverty line.

Attach prior years returns to the Affidavit of support, and documentation you have used to estimate current year's income.

No need for an employer letter if self employed.

The Catch 22 for the self-employed is that the income must show on legitimately filed tax returns regardless of whether it ever went in a bank account.
