Hi guys! Hopefully this will be my last question regarding the whole financial support part of the K1 process :P

My dads co sponsoring with me... and I ordered the 3 year tax transcript thing for the both of us. They took forever to get here, like almost a month, and we've been waiting on them as one of the last things on the checklist. but anyway!! Mine are all fine, but my dad didn't file the 2008 taxes til the 15th... so the 2008 transcript says "no record of filing" He DID file, just not in time for the transcript.

Right now he can't find a copy of his return. but we do have the w2 for it. Would just the w2 be acceptable you think along with the 2 transcripts?

Thanks for any help/advice :)

No - W-2's are simply supporting documents for a Tax Return (one is no good without the other). The 2008 transcript might be available soon - would be worth a call to see - usually takes several weeks to become available in their system when a person recently filed.

Funny how dad misplaced such a recent return though... lol (was only 12 days ago..)

No - you need the 1040 that goes for it.

Have you tried to call them and have them fax over your transcripts, perhaps it's in the system?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Moving to Consulate forum. I-134 affidavit of support is needed at the interview not when filing I-129F.

It can take until the middle of the summer for IRS to have transcripts ready for the most recent filing year (2008)

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

The availability of your 2008 tax transcript will depend on whether you had a refund coming or owed money. When I called on April 20, they told me that they process refund returns into the system before money due returns. They said that I should call back on May 1 to inquire again. Everything should be available by the end of May.

Lol yeah, he found returns from the past 20 years but not this years. We are in the middle of moving at the moment too... So they might be lost in the shuffle of thinks. Thanks for the help! We should be able to get a copy of the return @ the place he files his taxes with then. I should have just assumed to do that anyway I guess :) he's just super busy with the moving... I hate to bug him with this.

Thanks for all your fast replies guys, and sorry I posted in the wrong section. I will have him get a copy of this years return to go along with the w2, that should work I assume? Tax paperwork pretty much baffles me, I'm glad I asked about this instead of just giving him the w2 alone :)

Thanks again.

Copies of the 08 return will be just fine (of course, with the W-2's)..

No. But since you have the w-2 you do not need the transcript if you can find his copy of the ITR. Transcripts are no tneeded if you have copies of w-2s, 1099s etc. attached to the ITR copy. Try to find his copy of the return.

Hello everyone... quick question. I am in the final stages of a DCF for my wife, and am just waiting for my tax transcripts for 2007 and 2008 (since I filed late) to set an interview date (so that my I-864 is complete). Does anyone else have any experience with this and know how long I will have to wait for those transcripts to become available? I know that you can get them the same day once they become available, but am unsure as to the amount of time that passes between the time of filing and the availability date. Thanks.
