It's been offically 6 months since I filed my I-130 and still haven't been approved??? Should I write a letter to a senator?? Or the President??? The conditions in Pakistan are getting worse day by day and I am afraid that they will shut down all operations for the immigration process. My husband is waiting in Pakistan and still waiting.... what do you think we should do???

Contacting a Senator would useful.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Actually you're still within the normal waiting period for the VSC. Try going to the Timeline section of VJ and search for people who filed an I-130 a few months before you did at the VSC. You'll find that many of them waited between 6-9 months for an approval.

I think the President might be a bit busy at the moment so contacting him will be useless. A senator is effective and probably your best bet.

Good luck.

 Agreed. USCIS may ask you to wait an additional 30-60 days outside of the 6 months so contacting your senator may be the better route. Good luck!

Based on timeline data, your I130 may be adjudicated between May 3, 2009 and June 7, 2009*.

that timeline is not accurate yesterday it said from april 28, 2009 to june 2, 2009 so i don't know how much longer it's going to be??? I called the USCIS and they have no info yet :(

it is as accurate as anything you will find because it is based on fellow members actual experiences.... and yes it will continually update as new information is made available. The processing times posted were as of February 28, 2009... a lot can happen from then until now including H-1B applications that are time sensitive that occured in the beginning of April... when that comes around each year.. pretty much everything else goes into slowdown mode.

Not sure what calendar you are working on... 6 months from what? Your timeline says you put in i130 Jan 26,09 6 months would be July 26?

FYI we filed in Nov 08 transferred from VSC to CSC Jan and touched Jan 30th then NOTHING until April 27th when it was approved.

Complaining or gumming up the works with complaints calls and Senators distracting adjudicators from the files they are working on will not help the situation.

They probably flipped your file to a more experienced adjudicator because someone who was a junior newbie could not decide in 15 minutes if your packet justified approval. Just a guess and I assume that is what went on with mine as well having seen people who have been married 5 minutes get approved in lightening speed and our packet took almost the full 6 months and we have been married 8 years plus.

Hate to be politically incorrect but Pakistan may be part of the problem as well.

I filed my I-130 October 24, 2008 where did the Jan 26 come from???

It's frustrating that people who filed their I-130 in Jan 2009 have already been approved in april 2009...

Yes Pakistan is a problem I already know that, my brother in-law had his interview oct 7 2008 but they kept his passport and visa until he called someone in the USA, it was coming close to his wedding in DEC and they finally gave him his visa and passport after all that....
