Need help ! 846 confused

I have a question.After my hubby's friend filed up I 864 for me and he've asked me about " Part 5 Sponsor household size on C.if you are currently married,enter "1" for your spouse . He isn't sure what should he add in the box. Actually,he's married and

he doesn't put her name on his tax. He filed the tax separated with his wife.Once again clearly Should he count her and add 1 in the box ?

Or how should he file the form.We both are so confused.
