Got AP (K1-AOS) seeking some answers ?

Alright, I got AP today (K1-AOS) and waiting for EAD and PR. My AOS processing is taking place at CSC.

I want to be home while I await PR. Also, if needed for interview, am ready to come back here.

My question is :

I got two exact copies of multiple entry parole document valid for one year - how long can I stay back home at a time - 3 to 4 months ?

I have important stuff to take care at home like selling some immovable properties.

Secondly, if I need to appear for interview while I am home, can I reschedule the interview or I have to appear at their specified date ?

By rescheduling I mean put it off for a month later ?

Lastly, what do I do with the second exact copy of AP ?

one year out is the bright line but problems can begin at 6 mos. Best if you do NOT go beyond 6 mos.

It is never reccomended to attempt a re-schedule of an AOS interview...

Carry both copies of AP with you, when you retuirn they will validate both.. they keep one, you get one

Thanks for the fast reply.

do you mean 6 months at a single visit or accumulated. I want to go only once though,

What if I get interview within a few weeks, would not be easy without a reschedule,

but I will adhere to your advice.

Just out of curiosity - do you intend to remain in the US once you get the PR/Green Card?

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to finally get here, then leave again just to 'wait out the process'.

aggregate may come into play some day, but certainly keep a single visit to the 6 mos. or less time frame if you are able

YMMV

I will remain once I get the PR. This time thru AP, I intend to be home for about 3 months

1) YOU CAN NOT STAY MORE THAN 6 MONTHS (CUMULATIVE IN A GIVEN YEAR) PER YEAR WITH GC OR PENDING AOS.

LONGER STAY USUALLY CREATES SOME PROBLEMS WHEN YOU APPLY FOR A PERMANENT GC OR NATURALIZATION.

IT IS NOT ADVISABLE.

2) NEVER (I MEAN NEVER) EVER TRY TO CHANGE AN INITIAL INTERVIEW DATE !.......

IF YOU DO, YOUR CASE WILL BE FORGOTTEN FOR A LONG TIME. EVEN IF YOU ARE 6 FT. UNDER AT THE GRAVEYARD, YOU MUST APPEAR AT THE INTERVIEW !..

3) ONE COPY FOR POE & OTHER COPY FOR YOU TO KEEP. YOU HAVE TO TAKE BOTH OF THEM.

HAVE A SAFE TRIP HOME .... BTW, I DON'T THINK YOU WILL HAVE AN INTERVIEW DUE TO YOUR CASE TRANSFERRED TO CSC.

Cino,

1st: QUIT YELLING!! In case you are unaware, all caps is equated to yelling on the internet.

2nd: While it is not advised for trivial purposes, there are acceptable reasons for changing your interview date. IE...death in family, close family member in hospital. You will not suffer an unreasonable delay for a good verifiable reason. They may delay you longer for trivial stuff, this would be dependant on the interviewing office. Please, do not give inaccurate info.

#1 is not correct. Our son will use his CGC to attend a university in Moscow 10 months per year and we have specific instruction that is is OK and he does not need an AP to attend school out of the country. I do not know if it is an exception for education but at least it is not carved in stone that it cannot exceed 6 months. We were told he cannot be out of the country for more than one year without an AP.

Did the OP mention one thing about education? What good does this answer do for the OP?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I think it's a good idea to clarify the exceptions to 'the rules'.

Just because this information does not pertain to the OP, other readers could learn and use the information.

We always suggest to posters to search posts before making their own, and therefore it's important to discuss those exceptions.

Just my 2 cents

When I get the GC while I am not here in USA, I still use the AP document to come back or I need the GC ?

You can use either, but you would have to have the GC sent to you if it arrives while you are out of the country. I wouldn't advise doing that. Just come back in with the AP.
